Lost 2 smooth silkies babies and 2 almost mature bantam Cochins that were shipped in. They were beautiful! Found my little dog had been in the garage all night last night. She has never killed before! I just can't believe it! We are just sick! We found the other girl to the cochin trio hidden behind a box. She is ok but now she is so lonely!

We lost all but one hen in our flock to a dog attack yesterday. After listening to the kids cry the entire evening and watching our brave lone survivor just stay curled up in her coop the whole day and not even eat we got up early this morning and made our way to our favorite chicken breeder. Picked up two 18 week old gals and two little babies to rebuild our flock.
We were a bit worried Chimi would peck at the two new girls but she seemed delighted when she saw them next to her pen got right up and out of her coop to go day hi, and within a few hours they were exploring around the yard together with no issues. I'm keeping an eye on them but she just seems happy to have a flock around her again.
The two little ones are penned next door until they're big enough to join the big girls.
Chickens are happy.Kids are happy. Mama is happy!

@kelielliott@HeadChick I am so so sorry :( it's amazing and devastating how quickly a dog can do serious damage. Hugs to both your families.

@miohippus I'm so sorry for your loss. I know you loved those cochins.

Does anyone have any feedback on what raising quail in town might be like? My husband is pretty keen on the idea but I'm wondering noise/smell and those kinds of things? Its most likely illegal but the house were buying has a 6ft privacy fence all the way around and an empty lot on both sides of it so I'm not really concerned about the legality as long as they're not bothersome.

I hope everyone's well. I've been sick since Mother's Day. :( Im just starting to feel human again but strep throat is no joke! It's slowed me down a lot.

Depends if you make crops or raise livestock for profit, and, or if you own or lease the property for agricultural purposes. At the Courthouse you'll fill out a form detailing your farm or ranch equipment, and tractors, if any, for Fuel Tax Exempt I.D.

Thank you so much Ashley! I can't believe your moving. I thought you just moved out to the country? So sorry you have been sick! The kids had strep on and off all winter even though we took all precautions. My hubs co workers have had it too

Yea it was a hard decision to make but Arlo did not like homeschooling and I wasn't impressed with the school system. Also we've been a 1 car family for almost a decade-which previously was no issue because I bike everywhere- but out here I was starting to feel really isolated. My husband works 60 or more hours a week in town. Being so far out with 4 kids and no transportation was starting to make us all a little crazy. We're glad to go back to central Norman but I miss the ducks so much.

I actually haven't had strep since before my tonsils were removed. Wow it's serious. We're all coughing fools.

Sage gave you great information. County courthouses have the forms you need to complete.
