what do they call an armadillo in the big city?I've had possums do this as well. We shot one last night that was digging in our trash.
Best Welsummers on my side of the state come from Lisa LeRay in Tahlequah. She's not on here I don't think, or at least not much, but she's on Facebook in the Oklahoma poultry groups. Shoot me a PM if you want her number.
Well this latest hatch was an abysmal failure. I gave the 4 hens 40 eggs, they stole another 20ish between them. I had 3 chicks internal pip and 1 that was ready but didn't internally pip all shrink wrapped, I hatched out all 4, 3 died one was still alive at dark. By far the majority of the rest were not fertile, so I believe I have a rooster problem. Shakespears days are numbered.
Awe poor old guy.![]()
I have found that temperatures over 90 will affect the fertility of the rooster. As temperatures rise, I don't collect eggs to hatch when I first see a decrease during candling. When temps get cooler, fertility returns. Might try a late broody hatch if one goes broody on you. She will raise them instead of you having to do a winter brooder box.....unless of course any are nekkid!Well this latest hatch was an abysmal failure. Coral, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. While I won't be breeding naked chickens, I have followed stories and pictures of your and Kassaundra's birds with interest.
So sorry Coral!!
