News Flash:
Just got a memo from the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association In a nutshell:
Governor Fallin has "today signed an executive order allowing haulers of hay to carry larger loads in their trucks." The order is a result of the drought.
"Currently rules restrict haulers of hay to dimensions of 11 feet in width. Governor Fallin's ....order increases those limits to 12 feet. Because standard hay bales is six feet in width, this change doubles the amount of hay bales capable of being hauled per truck without a permit."
"Additionally those vehicles transporting hay to livestock, the order temporarily suspends the requirement for an oversized vehicle permit within those limits."
"The executive order last 60 days."
For us this means some relief in hauling our own hay and for those who are buying hay.
For drivers on the road it means taking more care in hauling and in passing vehicles hauling hay.
