It might be a Wren's nest. Is it made of long grass? I had one in one of my hanging baskets of flowers. Wrens are tiny, not much bigger than a hummingbird. They like to eat thistle seeds.

Not exactly. She messed with it while its nerves continuted to move & feel of the scales & such. AT one point she thought it was still alive & decided it's head need to come off to make sure.

Don't feel bad about kids playing w snakes sooner. My DD spent a good hour with the last bull snake we killed. She toted that thing around to by it's tail. Swung it in circles & even took it out to show the guys bailing the hay! Guy doing hay told her to hang it over the fence belly up to bring rain..... So of course she tried that too, then I finally made her dig a hole and burry the poor thing! I didn't want a smelly snake hanging on the fence for the next month while we waited for rain!

Well now we know, your the reason we aint getting any rain

Did anyone determine that the nest in the flowerpot was a wren they love to nest in planters.

Nope we didn't because I have yet to see the bird. I will post pictures this morning.

That looks a lot like the wren nest I have seen. They are nice birds to have around, very loud and meloudious.

I just came in from pulling up the tomatoe plants, cleome and weeds that had went wild in one bed. Will get it all cleaned off and then I'm going to plant it full of hollyhocks. It will be a year or two before they bloom but I sure like them.

My wyandotte broody only hatched five but thats five more than I had!Now I'm down to only one broody, but she just started so maybe something else will start before she hatches. It keeps clouding up and that makes it a little cooler.

I wish I could get rid of all the broody's! They are worring me to death with this heat & now I have one of the new mom's trying to get her chicks to roost up high when they can't even fly!

Oh yeah I have something in the live trap to take care of!!!!!

I have been breaking up broodies for two weeks. One of the diehards, did.
Heading to the movies with Jared and one of his buddies. Gonna see a chick flick.
Cowboys and Aliens. I know there is at least one chick in it.

Without going back through all the posts.....I want to see the picture of the totally naked chicken and hear the story of it....does anyone know where to find it? Some guy in the Serama group is talking about naked necks and I want to show him. Thanks.
