you know I am no Fan of teh appearance of a NN, but that is agood looking color on that bird. I thought it was a young guinie (I know I spelled that wrong) at first had look more than once.

thanks! here is the 3 from that hatch, cochin/nn, and are extremely friendly and they know how to use their wings...

Thanks for the support, y'all. I think the dark Cornish were the only large fowl. The rest were OEGB, MG bantams, and bantam partridge Wyandottes.

Everyone survived the injections, so that's good!

No one else is showing any symptoms. I lost the one Cornish cockerel and then culled a MG pullet. I've still got them inside, but I think I'll move them outside this weekend. Not with my other birds, but in a pen across the property.

It makes me sick. Those MG have the sweetest friendliest personalities! I love them! The Cornish are smart and have already figured out where the special treats are and make a fuss when I go over there. I hope it's not a major lingering illness and nothing else happens with them. Their stools have been completely normal looking. Not even a little loose the first day. They're eating great, too. That's always encouraging!

Mjgigax-sorry you had a rough day!

But, I'm glad you don't live in Bixby! Lol! Cause my dd (16) and oldest son (12) can cause a lot of gray hairs in their teachers!

I'd hate to hear they were the cause of your stressful day!

Artsyrobin-I love your NN babies! We're partial to them. Is that lavender? I thought they were guineas at first, too! That head on shot really looks like one. But, I'm also partial to my guineas!

What a great project! DS is wanting to breed the Modern Games and NN! I'm not sure what that would look like, but I am sure it would be interesting! Lol!

Again, thanks to my fellow Okies for helping me out the past few days. This has been really frustrating and upsetting for the kids.

Thank you Carl & Stephanie for the new fluff balls! They're so cute and friendly, I think the grandkids will enjoy them. I'll let them each choose which one they want next time they're over. Enjoyed the friendly visit, too. You've sure got some nice birds at your place.

The only way I know of to get the bones tender like that are with a pressure cooker. Some bony fish, such as carp, are cooked that way so they'll be edible. It would be weird to know that you were actually eating chicken bones though.

Good Morning Okies!!!
Supposed to be another hot one today. Di dn't get any mowing or weed wacking done yesterday. Both of us were really tired once we sat down. The grass was dry this morning....Guess that will be the project for today. I can roll up the hoses and the boys can do the mowing, etc. I'll sit in my chair out by the hen pen with a big thermos cup of iced coffee and enjoy the birds free range to the hum of the mower.
Gonna be a relaxing day.

Good morning to you!

I wish I could spend time with my birds. But I have errands, and a baby shower to go to today.

I let my girls out to free range in my fenced back yard Thursday. Its really funny. My GLW and BO are strutting around the yard like they are already comfortable. My Black Astralorps will venture out, eat a little grass, and head back into the coop run. After a while, they will venture out a few minutes, then head back in. It is the funniest thing!

We had a sleepover last night. 4 girls, from 3-7years. They had a blast

Now I'm having trouble restarting and getting going this morning.

I hope you all have a great day! Be Blessed!

Today is a work for money day for me, but I need to mow too. Hopefully I'll get to do that Sund. Gary is working on the mower, some carburator thing I think he said.

My comfrey that I planted a few days ago is already up and over an inch tall!!!! That sure was quick, makes me hopeful the harvest once a month thing wasn't an exageration. (during the growing season of course)

Still haven't planted many of the seeds I was planning on last week, waiting for it to break the 100 cycle. I did plant half the pod peas, but they aren't up yet, and I only planted the ones that were going in a mostly protected (by other plants) area from the sun.

Monday is going to be a bittersweet day for me, we take Dude (the rescue chocolate lab pup) to the airport for his ride to his forever home. He is such a sweet boy we sure are going to miss him.
