***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Thanks Cuban. I was guessing they would show somewhere! Just need to figure out what category & how many opportunities she would have to show. Also how much driving I would be doing to get to shows!!

How is the pup doing? Did he come home or stay at the vet for treatment? My sister & some of my rental tenants both had dogs make it through parvo. We were not as lucky with parvo.

Didn't see guineas in the standard.

Puppy is still with us. She seems improved, hoping she really is getting more hydrated. She still refuses food. I bought some formula to try. It's sort of like powdered pet milk but formulated as more of a supplement & has feeding instructions for stressed or ill pets.

Parvo is rough, only a 50% survival even w/ agressive fluid treatment. Hope you are in the good 50%

I hope your making a dent!!! Sounds horrible that many chicken eaters. I used to think raccoons were cute but that was B.C. (before chickens). Do you have any dogs? We don't have any real livestock gaurd dogs, but it seems just having them in the yard helps keep the preditors at bay.

No wonder they were so good in the bathtub! If that chick's a male then it looks like I've probably got 2 males out of the 8 Cochin chicks I hatched. That'd be wonderful. This one and a super dark one, almost black. That'd put me at 2 males and 9 females total. I'm hoping to get enough girls for each boy so the whole group can live together peacefully.
Thanks

When you are ready let me know I will show you how to pluck for fertility, you will find that 4:1 sometimes 5;1 works best for fertility.

Carl, actually I don't even care about fertility & breeding, I just want them to all be able to get along so they can live together in peace. All my chickens are strictly pets. I can't seem to ever bear to part with any animal once it gets here. If I let them hatch out 300 babies I'd have exactly........300 more chickens. I'm a sap.

I used to be here, but now I'm gone.

Thanks to Jeannie Jason and kids for the beautiful Boer doe they gifted us today. What a wonderful family they all are.

Guys, Gee Gee is doing great and fitting right in, although she appears to enjoy hanging out with my dogs more than the goats.

Smart goat, that.

The vet said as much. He seemed optimistic since she wasn't seriously dehydrated when I took her in. Still, I will likely end up letting her stay at the vet's a few days. I can't really seem to make any headway. She still refuses food, even liquid, and she fights us when we force her.

we had to put her on a run cord because she was hiding from us in the woods.

I did get an ounce of the formula in her. Maybe she won't vomit later. Gave her a pill from vet for nausia earlier & it seems to be working to keep down what little fluids we can get into her.

County fair = 2 days living at the fair....
Yonna, AnnaBell and Virginina was able to be on Chanel 52 speaking about
the county fair and they were able to do it with a couple of chickens. The
next day Yonna was on fox 25 without the chickens but she was super cute.
The fair warped up with AnnaBell winning Grand Champion Standard with a blue
Orp pullet. First thing she said was mom tell my chicken people...)
Take care you all......

Carl, Since I have some of your blue cochin pullets...what do you mean by plucking 4:1 and 5:1 for fertility?
You don't trim the cochin feathers the same way you trim the Wyandotte feathers?
