To hot to take picture today, I will try maybe in the morning if it is cooler. 2 1/2 month old not much to see at that acward age. Live at Waynoka now, moving down to Arapaho.

Completely understand it being too hot...had to take a break myself this afternoon from pen repair. How many stags, how many pullets and how much are you asking?...I live South of Tulsa, google maps says it will take 4 hours to get to Waynoka....don't know how much moving help I could be...but the 4 hour drive would be worth it for a good price on American games.

Lynn/Greybear had some american games for sale also.

Wish you were closer, I have 10 guineas left, probable going to sale or trade them. They are getting big enough I dont feel comfortable turning them out in a new place. Never had much luck with the older ones doing that. As far as getting one of the standard books. Well worth the money if you guys are going to show. Besides, lots of pretty color pictures in it to

I just looked @ the map & was shocked how far away you are cowboy! I can't believe you drove down to cement for those couple of auctions! If those guineas are good size I say butcher them, they will travel better on ice! We haven't butchered any yet, but have a few that will be dinner this fall. Not sure how well grown guineas sale in the fall. Most people buying them for eating ticks in the summer. Or at least those who I talk to.

One of the birds I got today managed to rip their toenail off. The bleeding has stopped but I figure it will always be without a toenail.

Another good reason to be down at Arapaho, closer to auctions. I have butchered a couple guinea this last week. Going to cook them sometime this week, will post results.

bfrancis I think I have 2 American game stags. 2 American game pullets, 4- 3/4 American game, 1/4 asil pullets (these are grey) , then several 1/2 American game 1/2 asil. I dont think I am getting rid of any more of the pure asil stags yet till they get a little older. All this fowl is from 2 to 3 months old. They are all healthy big stags and pullets. 10 per straight across picked up here. Or for some gas money will meet somewhere Enid or so. No fowl sold for illegal purposes, this fowl will fit about everyone program.

I know the bill will be expensive. They told me so, and suggested trying to treat her at home. She absolutely refuses food whether in a bowl or on my fingers. I even tried putting wet dogfood on her paw & she ignored it. She drinks a little on her own & we have to syringe the pedialyte. My concern is that we both work during the week & with her as she is, she isn't going to stay hydrated like she needs.

This suggestion is going to sound weird so let me give the human side of it first. When my Grandmother had AMLS (Lou Gerhrig disease) back in 1974 and could no longer swallow, the doctor surgically made a stoma (opening) thru her abdomen into her stomach and we used a turkey baster to feed her food that had been processed in a blender. To keep the stoma moist, it was covered with an antibiotic cream and gauze each feeding. For your dog, this could be closed up after the parvo is gone.

The problem is Parvo eats their intestinal lining, erodes it. So their body isn't absorbing any of the nutrients anyway, plus it *hurts* when food is forced into them and attempts to go through their intestine because it's so raw inside. They can go without food for a week, no problem. It's the fluids (& electrolytes in the fluids) that they need/have to have. Plus the antibiotics (in case of secondary infection in their intestines) and the anti-inflammatory to lessen the swelling in their gut.

Evenin' everyone. Yes, it was very hot again/still.

They are saying ten MORE days of this.
Hope everyone had a good weekend - congratulations to all the winners - young and not so young.
Buckguy, we are still here, keeping up with reading thread(s) and trying to help our feathered friends make it thru till cooler weather. Old clumsy

(me) had a spill today while changing the water in our big run and broke my little finger. Owie!
hit.gif
I grabbed it and yanked it back the way it should look and then Hubby came out to "rescue" me. He couldn't breathe so we spent the rest of the afternoon at the ER - in separate rooms! Hubby got test after test and 4 hours of O2 and I got xrayed and told I had "set" the finger just right! They added a splint to my rolled up piece of paper and sent me in to sit with Hubby while he napped. We are back home safe and nearly sound and still have all the chickens

It IS a good day after all! Sleep well tonight - see y'all tomorrow.

Hey my Okie Brethren,

Is there anyone that is in the market to sell a couple buff orpington hens? I was supposed to buy 6 BO's, a RIR and a SLW from this lady in Cushion. We have been talking since last week and the plan was to meet tomorrow. Well today she emails me and says she sold them all.

I found someone in Choctaw that is going to sell one EE, two cuckoo marans, two blue ameracauna and one welsummer, but I REALLY REALLY REALLY want a couple BO's.

anyone???

Cowboy, thats great that you get to move back to the old homeplace. Always nice to "come home". Can't wait till we do. Looked it up on the map, your just about going straight down from where your at! I'm sure you will enjoy being close to a lot of our peoples down there!

Feeling better now,got pretty sick after supper. Been out of a couple of meds for a few days .I guess its catching up!
Talked to my buddy that I went to the sale with yesterday,he got a pair of cochins and said they were covered in fleas and mites! I didn't know chickens could get fleas! Wondering if it was lice. I told him to bath them in dawn dish soap. Its usually deadly on contact with fleas. Might help till he can get to the store for some treatment.

Talked to my sister in Charlotte,N>C> I figured they were covered with rain. She said they didn't even get a sprinkle! They are across the state but usually get the rain from the hurricanes and as big as Irene was I expected it would get them but it didn't! WE still haven't gotten any yet either, even tho I washed both vehicles this morning!lol

I sure am likeing my new EE bantam roo. Actully both of them, they are the prettiest ones I have ever had I believe.Maybe I can get another hen or two to set before it gets to cold.

jamcool1 ,sounds like an exciting afternoon for you guys. Glad all is better now.

Sooner thanks pics would be nice to dream over!lol. Wife's not so bright sister is going to come and take MIL out of the home and try and care for her and work to,so I am sure we will be makeing trips back this fall. Just hope its not for a funeral or to help look for her (MIL) when she runs off!It bad when money is more important than your own mothers safety, especially when the money is no more than a social security check!

Hey Monty, I have some young stags and pullets out of that brass back albany I had and some kelso hens. They should be firecrackers.

I am interested in the Brassyback Albanys and maybe a few of the Asil crosses.
I will send you a pm.
