Congrats to Macy on the cat.. they can be quite tough to catch. I am glad to hear that all is doing well Mike. Getting the hatches off to full swing now for those fall show birds. I have a quite a few I am looking forward to once this show season actually ends I can get even more serious about the others I need to get going.

I have two little Silver Blue 1/2 Cochins that are under a broodie hen. and eggs under four more broodies to go.
We now have 1/2 inch in the guage...really need this rain.

Carl, I will call you when the rain lets up a little and set a time to bring cartons.

Morning, Okies
We're getting heavy dousing today. It started before 5:00 a.m. I know this because the dog wanted out. Maybe by 10:30 I'll be able to go out without an umbrella. I can't carry a feed bucket and an umbrella without looking like, well, like an uncoordinated chicken farmer. The roosters laugh at me. I think I'll have another cup of coffee.

Happy New Years Eve Okies! Mama May hatched just one chick from the batch of eggs that Kass gave me. Why yes, we have a grandchick. Thanks Kass. Believe her name will be Kassie! One chick is going to be a problem as you know and I'm pretty sure no more are coming.
Anyhow, has anyone hatched yesterday or today? My sweet man has agreed to a chick run if I can find one. Thanks everyone! Oh, and I'm looking for a bird that lays anything BUT a light brown egg..

Ronnie she did sell some guinea eggs last season after she finished setting the more common colors. She also traded some eggs. There were some colors, like slate & violet that she worked hard to hatch as many as possible to try & build up our flock. I don't know what her goals will be this season.
MJ-- Alexis isn't officially driving, she still has another yr. for now she drives around the farm & enjoys showing her car off to her friends. For Alexis the most important thing was the color of her car. When we found a good deal on a yellow car she pounced on it.
We spent a few hours without power this AM & somehow even with all the rain we still have snow on the ground in places!
