***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Robin I honestly can't tell when they are dead, but at that stage you should be able to hear sound inside the egg. DH managed to get a stethoscope from a nurse while I was in the hospital. So we will be listening to eggs this season! Whoever knew they had disposable stethoscopes??? Looks like a reg one to me, guess just cheaply made???
Chickieboy hope your pup gains strength quickly & your mom as well.

Oreo looks handsome as always.

Mitzi sounds like a scary close call! I am sure you can find good homes for your Roos. If you don't find anyone local I know Mike is always happy to take them, you could always meet him at Mary's one Saturday.

well, i thought i'd give it another day, and if i still see no change, will give her one of bantam cochin eggs- she is so tiny she can only cover one egg- gonna have to buy a stethoscope- good idea!

is she inside? she might be having a hard time keeping temp even if she is tiny. so maybe a delayed hatch.

If she will let you see if you can candle and see veining. If you see veining I would say still good.

Loved yesterdays weather. Hoping for more of the same.

Sorry about the little garden snakes. They're so good to have in the garden.

I just love the way you told the story. Reminded me of a childrens story book, with all the pictures and captions. And the photography was excellent. That one hen chasing the black NN is so real life action, you can actually see her running trying to catch her. I can almost hear her yelling, “Hay, hold up! I want some of that!”.

Gary tilled up a new bed for me yesterday (the one I dug all the raspberries out of and am remaking) well when he did he tilled up a nest of snakes. I felt very bad about it they were just little garden snakes, but we gathered up the mutilated bodies and ...........................................

Took them to the girls, who ...........

Knew exactly what to do w/ mutilated snakes

You gotta be fast to keep your treat in my yard

and have good stamina

Little man trying to decide if it was worth the fuss

And Oreo taking all the credit!!!!!

You all have been very busy! I've got my 4 Dark Brahma girls and my 4 Ameraucana girls mixed in with my Cochin group now, the rooster in there is 1/2 Faverolles and 1/2 Orloff, he's huge but only like 5 months old. The threat of disease from mixing my own birds together is far less than what the wild birds brought in this winter. Killed so many of my sweet babies.
A HAWK had ahold of my Black Ameraucana girl last week. The crows were screaming (I wasn't home, my daughter was). My daughter ran out there and the hawk couldn't get a good hold on the hen. My daughter said he wouldn't let go and fly off until she was almost on him(my Am girl was bloody but ok). I came rushing home, that's the day I moved that group into the Cochin yard. It's more protected and close to the house. My husband saw 3 Crows dive bombing a hawk today, they chased it off. Do crows do that?
Could I talk anyone into 2 Orpington roosters for free? Not yet a year old. When I bought them we thought they were all pullets (so did the seller).
I had to save one of my hens from a hawk not to long ago she pulled thru. I might want your orpington roosters where are you located? I'm near Idabel.

Thanks for the info about POOPS. If I can be of any help in planning let me know and I'll do whatever I can.

A simple swap and potluck sounds like a great idea!

I'm near Mcalester, Ada, Atoka, Holdenville...that area of the state. You know, the land of a million oil wells.

If anyone has a date in mind I could setup a place and all that jazz.

I've never been to one before so I'm not sure how the work or how long they last, but if doing something like an all-weekend or, if there's a holiday that would extend it into a 3 or 4 day weekend, I'd be up for that and could stake out an area and hold it for the duration. Of course, where I'm at there is access to quite a bit of area to hold it in this part of the state, including a small community center which is never really used, making it free most of the year for any kind of event.

If anyone has any suggestions feel free to let me know. I could even design a website for the event with contact info and whatnot.
