I have a Blue Ameraucana pullet ( Not Wheaten). If I breed her to my Wheaten roo will that make Blue Wheatens?
I still have bunches of Cochins and love them so much but can't seem to resist a few Ameraucanas too. My neighbor has Wheaten Marans and Blue Ameraucanas. Both of his flocks are just beautiful birds. When I saw Wheaten Ameraucanas I saw my chance to have "Less as More".
Now, I do have a young Blue Marans pair too. I don't really have a pen for another roo and the little pair is inseparable so I would hate to separate them if i just kept the pullet for eggs. I don't know what I will do.
Also..... I now have a Blue Showgirl from Betsy. She is a doll, the bird that is, (so is Betsy too.)
How did all these birds sneak into my coops?

yeah eventually you would end up with blue wheaten , but for first couple of generations you would have leakage and off colored chicks ...kool never to many

DH and I will be at Newcastle tomorrow night. Hope to see some BYCers there.
It will be interesting to see what is selling and Jack, our neighbor and my Chicken Mentor, is feeling better so he gets to get out and go too.
Ameraucanas have been selling quite high at the auctions recently, pullets $20 to $28 each!

Tuesday, during the snow storm, one of Jack's Hair Sheep ewes went into labor and the 2nd lamb was breach. I was the only one around with small hands so I got to get the baby's back legs out. Poor ewe had been in labor so long she didn't have much energy to push anymore. We got that baby out and the 3rd one too, but it was stillborn. The ewe ended up loosing all 3 lambs for different reasons and is now moping around but is beginning to eat. I hope she is o.k. This is her 3rd lambing and 2nd set of triplets. New Years day 2012 she had twins and I had to help the 1st one that was also breach. I'm not at all squeamish, should have been a Veterinarian not and artist.

Well I just remind everyone about the auction. We have some really nice brinsea bator.two 3tier. Gqf brooder .a nice cattle blower like bran new .show cages .leg. bands.some nice birds
