***OKIES in the BYC III ***

On this cold dreary day I have the curtains drawn, dreaming of spring crocheting flowers for a swap. Was so excited w/ how they are turning out thought I'd post here too.

Awesome birds Joe, and Robin

I seem to remember mine doing that also. Although her utters don't look ready yet. Any collustrum?

and here are some of my blue import orpingtons
BanjoeJoe Your birds are lovely..... Especially the pic of the rump! Lol!!

Everyone be careful with heat lamps.
One of the Mille Fleur and Mottled Cochin breeders lost all but one of her breeder birds to a barn fire. She is not sure if that is what caused it but it is a reminder of how dangerous they can be. Her younger birds and one hen were in another building but she lost a lot of cochins and silkies.

That is so tragic. I am not following her thread, but really hoping that she gets help to replace her breeding stock. I have friends who extension cords to run heat lamps to their chicken houses, I have always wondered if this was the safest thing to do. I keep going back and forth about how to keep my girls warm in the coldest weather.

Glad you posted that I would have never known, lol. Guess I will hold onto them until the next one. Hubby will be glad to have my help on the house in town that day though. I plan on painting all 4 bedrooms, the livingroom, dining room, kitchen and bathroom this weekend so we can start moving this next week.
