***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Here are a few pics of our new girls

This is the smallest one.
I am new to this while chicken thing, but I was wondering if anyone can tell me what they are? I was so excited about getting them I forgot what they were called. Lol
Did you get them at atwoods? The top pic makes me think golden comet, which is what I buy every year for my layer flock. Great big eggs! Frequent layers. But the bottom one looks like it is feathering white which would not be a golden comet

First day back from Spring Break. . . first day of parent/teacher conferences behind me. One more late night with parents to go. Those who attended this evening were pleasant. It was worth staying late : )

We started reading Shakespeare's Macbeth today. Most of my seniors thought it was a waste of time until we got to the line in which the sailor's wife tells the witch she's not sharing her chestnuts. The line reads: Aroint thee, witch! the rump-fed ronyon cries. Working in teams, students translated, and this is what the majority agreed Shakespeare meant: Get the freak away from me, witch! the fat-bottomed bee yacht cried. (spelling changed to protect the innocent). Now my seniors are asking why they haven't been required to read Shakespeare before. Oh yeah... Romeo and Juliette and Julius Caesar were written by the same guy. Forgot about those. . . wonder if there's anything else a senior may have forgotten?

I gave treats tonight as I shooed the last of the free-rangers into the barn. They seemed happy to see me. I was happy to see them. It's cold out there. I moved a roo on the roost so that he would have some body heat from one of the bigger hens. She didn't complain. I think he was afraid to scoot towards her on his own.
