***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Keeping up with you all is like trying to catch a run away train!!!!!!
Just when I get caught up, I miss a day and I totally am left behind.
I'm reading everything, trying to get to know who is who and where!
For the record, I raise Silkies, have done so for 40+ yrs. Also a pair of spotted Seramas, and a bunch of adorable D'Anvers.
And I now have beautiful Cochins and some Wyandottes [thanks to Nanakat]

My Silkies are Paint and sometime this spring.summer I will be working on some great Buff Silkies.
My partner in Silkies is Cammy Jarvis of Elite Silkies, she also is in OK, Durant.
I've never been to any auctions or flea markets, but am sure wanting to go and be able to meet some of you folks.
I certainly hope that there is a POOPS this yr,
I'll try and keep up with you all in the meantime.
Oh, some of you were talking about how scarey some folks are about us living out here in the "wilds of Ok"
I had a woman visit from Pa, she spent the night and the next morning she appeared to be REALLY tired and worried.
When I asked her what was wrong she said the Indians had her scared and awake all night.
Indians?????

Turned out to be the yipping and howling of coyotes combined with an old oil rig "beating it's drum" all night.
Poor thing she really was scared!

Cindy, I can understand, I love Arizona, and never tire of going there, it is a fabulous place and it has so many different climates and terrain differences, it doesn't take long to go from desert to mtns. It's a great place to visit, but I'm not sure I could ever leave OK and not long to come back.
Welcome and lurk to your hearts content.

Thanks guys for helpful hints about feeders. We are going to try opening the hole, but will probably jus get and inexpensive replacement. These came with the coop. I'm so loving having chickens, haven't had them since I was a kid. Hopefully, it will be warmer now. Have a blessed day!

Hi all. I am diving into your plethora of knowledge once again. I am trying to determine which of my hens are laying and which are not. I am not set up to do any seperating or single enclosed nests or anything of the sort, but was wondering about marking them when they are in the nest so I can see which are laying and which are not. I wondered if I were to put a dab of nail polish on the top of their beak, would that hurt them any? That is the only thing I can think to do without scaring them, like with a paint marker. Any and all opinions and suggestions are more than welcome!

Thanks,
Patti
