***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Well I'll try this again, I just made a post and the page refreshed and it went *poof* I guess LOL

I finally got my phone and internet back on and gave up trying to catch up on here I was just too far behind, I've missed everyone and sure hated missing out on POOPS I'm gonna make an effort to not tlet that happen again,

I have cut back on birds a little (not much) and increased by a couple of dogs LOL I picked up two female Rotties a little over a year old so I'm working with them to be okay around the rest of the critters I have been working on a partial fence to keep them close to the house since I had gotten some knuckleheaded neighbors that were shooting all the time but I got a nice surprise this week getting to watch them move out

It sure is nice and peaceful here now LOL
Well I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend and this weather,
Hi, good to hear from you and glad the bad neighbors are gone. Our good neighbors are one of the big reasons we didn't move to Texas when Joe retired.

Glad you had a successful hatch with the spitz. Sorry about the Jap Bantams. I lost one of the Wheaten's the next day. Think it got cold that night. All others are doing well.

I lost one of my Wheaton's too. Had pasty butt so I cleaned it up and it looked like something was embedded in the webbing of it's right foot. I put it back in a brooder separate from the others and it seemed fine. Checked on it the next morning and it looked good. 2 hours later it was dead.

I drove to Paden from Newcastle , took me about hour and a half . The people are super nice and have a very neat , clean setup . I bought my first Silkies a lavender and a white . I went to buy their Silver Penciled Wyandottes ,came home with 18 chicks . They are thriving and growing like weeds , I am very pleased with the quality .

Forgot to add , she shows her Silkies .

That makes me feel really good! I have been texting her now! How are your babies doing?

Has anyone else ever had a hen have a misfire? The first egg in the line up is the misfire I found in one of my hen's nest box yesterday. The second egg is a bantam egg, the third is what this particular hen normally lays and the last one is from a production red. Too bad she didn't do this the week before P.O.O.P.S.! Surely it would have won the smallest egg contest?!? It's no bigger than my thumbnail. Now, if I crack it, will it be all yolk, no yolk, or nothing at all? I have to say that I laughed out loud when I found it! [rule]
The first fart egg I ever saw I laughed and laughed and showed anyone who would look! Over the years I have collected them...and since there is usually only egg white they will dry nicely over time and basically preserve themselves. I just leave them alone in a bowl or glass and a few months later you have a decorator egg! And no, they never smell bad or I wouldnt keep em! They are just too darn cute to throw out or crack open. Happy Mothers Day to all of you moms out there and for those who mother, love and nurture kids (and grown ups!) that you may not have given birth to. Your contributions are cherished by those of us lucky enough to have you in our lives. Go Moms and my very own Other Mother, Shirley.

Have found that if you take a pair of pliers ( I use needlenosed) to the hard poo balls, you can crush them off of the feathers. Especially useful in the winter when you don't want to have wet birds.
