***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Thank you, whoever brought the asparagus as a raffle prize at P.O.O.P.S. I won one package, but idn't get them planted right away, as I wanted to have at least a halfway decent bed for them. Planted them in mid- to late May. There were supposed to be six crowns, but there were 9 altogether--some pretty small though. When I was about to give up on them, they started sprouting, one at a time. We're now up to five--the latest just today. Am hopeful the rest will come up too. At any rate, we should have asparatus to eat in a couple of years!

Ginger all roosters can & will fight. Some hens even fight, especially for their favorite nesting box or spot on the roost.

Nana any luck on you goose returning? I know you put a lot into getting the pair grown & living the good farm life!

Robin I am sure you will find homes for the kittens. Too bad you didn't have them @ POOPS. Several children would have been happy to take kittens home.

You are planning on keeping more then the one chicken your daughter is going to show right?  Chickens are social animals and need other chickens, at least a buddy.

Yes, we have 3 5-week old chicks I am keeping now, I think I will have room for 6 in our coop - the run is 12x6 and the coop will be 4x4 with 3 nest boxes.

I was wondering if Easter egg roosters will fight or if buff orpington roosters will fight because I debating on which one to get.
if you want a more docile roo, i'd go with a cochin or favorolle- my EE roo galahad is a sweetheart, and non aggressive- but really thats no guarantee others won't be
Quote: i sure hope so, they are cute little things- although the chickens aren't please to see them coming round the corner..LOL!
