***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Like Robyn said, keep your girl in a low lit room and keep her calm. While she is recovering she may begin using her wing more. It may be several days before you notice a change. Accommodations for loss of use of a wing are easy to do if that happens.

Hey everyone! I live in Edmond, and am a newbie to this whole chicken thing. I just finished the coop, and we let our six 8 week old chicks start using it a couple of days ago. We are looking forward to being chicken-people forever :)
P.S. we live in Edmond Ok.

they didn't work, but it is possible she has pulled muscles, how is she otherwise?

Pinkie Pie is okay, but there may be an egg that was about to be laid. There is some bloody poo - possibly from stress - and something hard when the vet felt her.

There is a small wound on the wing and I'm getting something for that. Thank you guys! :)

Counting down the days until the Labor Day Chicken Gathering. It should be a little cooler on Monday (mid 90s). Looking forward to seeing Okie friends and chickens, chickens, chickens

and great looking Coop and run.

More progress. But still not done
Kevin, Great job! Nice to see the birds already enjoying their new digs.

It sure is hot outside! Plans were to move some aged deep litter out of the hen house into the garden today. Hubby has convinced me to wait until it is cooler....and to watch the OSU game with him.

Met with KMC43 this morning about some Black Wyandotte for his Barred Wyandotte project. He has the nicest family...a cute little girl who is really in to showing chickens. Good luck to her at the Okfuskee Fair this weekend.

Lost a calf overnight that we had to help pull last night. The calf's face was swollen from pressure in the birth canal, but it was breathing okay. We had to tube it with Colostrum and left it with her. She took right to the calf about an hour after we pulled it. She licked it clean and kept nudging it to get up. It never got up thru the night. Sure hate losing one...it was a really big bull calf out of our registered bull and it was her first calf.

NanaKat--it def is hot!! We are outside today pulling up dead leaves and trying to make room for a newer bigger chicken coop and my new garden. (We moved to our house in Harrah (from meeker!) about 2 years ago, and just now able to work towards these goals! )

So sorry about your calf!! :(
