***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Haha Kass love that you caught Coral in the hula hoop! Looks like a blast- hopefully next chicken gathering we will be done with this move and we can come and enjoy ourselves!

OK my vine finally bloomed- plant experts any guesses? I incorrectly self-identified it as Mile-A-Minute vine, but that doesn't usually grow this far north and it has a barb below each leaf which is absent in my plant. This thing does seem to pop up from blown seeds but I have not found it to be difficult to eliminate or invasive. It is a VERY vigorous grower- I cut this thing all the way down to the ground the year before. If I let it, it will grow up the porch support all the way to the house roof. Currently it is supported on a trellis next to the porch but I have to constantly remove tendrils from the ironwork on the porch. IT SMELLS HEAVENLY when it blooms!

Could it be some sort of honeysuckle????

I like the pic where Coral is "taking a shower" lol And 5 acres girl was just adorable!!!!! Corals granddaughter was a delight to get to know. Betsy's husband seemed like a real sweetheart (hope you don't mind me saying that Betsy)

Its common name is Sweet Autumn Clematis I think it's an evergreen to a point or will take a lot of cold weather, I used it years ago for shade over a chicken pen I don't remember the chickens bothering it at all
Clematis paniculata (C. terniflora)

ETA: I think that's what it is LOL

Definitely Sweet Autumn Clematis. It doesn't appear invasive for a few years, but it is VERY invasive. I've had it for at least 15 years, and now have it just about eveywhere--grows in full sun and partial shade. It is very pretty in full bloom, but it covers everything including small trees, grows very fast and is very easily spread by seed. It is resistant to RoundUp--even the strong kind for poison ivy.

Your pics are wonderful, Kass! It was a great start to what should work out to be an annual event. Excellent site. Coral is a super good event planner/coordinator! Was really good to see old friends and meet a lot of really nice new ones. I was especially pleased to get to visit with several young people who are really interested and knowledgeable about poultry!

Thanks everybody for the ID! Was going to take a start of it to the new house when we move- but maybe after reading this I won't!

free duck!
this sounds horrible. we have to ducks and four chickens. i love my ducks but one of them is picking on my chickens. they were fine for several months together. but my rooster got hurt and is disabled now. ever since then my duck tries to pin him down and has started picking on the other chickens as well. i have tried to secluding them but we can tell it is affecting the ducks quality of life. we have decided to try to find the duck a new home. any takers?
