Hotcurltr, Huey won't be harmed emotionally by discipline. The top gander in your flock will be far more harsh. I no longer have geese, but it was a learning experience....the final product was a lovely gander dinner. There are great people on the "other poultry " threads. Someone else on here offered to sell females for Huey.

I have always heard 1 roo to ten hens-the more hens the less stress on them- galahad has 16 and it works-

looking forward to a bit warmer weather - need to spray pens down with oxine due to the wild birds helping clean up... unfortunitely the weather channel is saying the door is now open for these artic blasts...

I put out a layer of straw on top of the snow for my birds yesterday because they wouldn't even come out of their house. They all just piled in the door looking at the snow. One barred rock walked out and then ran back in and complained for about twenty minutes.

The ducks, on the other hand, seemed to understand that snow is just another form of water and happily enjoyed themselves.

The goats were not thrilled with the wind but I don't think the snow bothered them that much. They slept outside their house.

Just glad to see the sunshine.

Has anyone ever went to the P&S auction in Nowata? It's this coming Sat. and I thought we would try it since its less than an hr away. If you have been what are the going rates for their chickens? I just hate to find one that is a "have to have" and it go for $35+.

I think this auction is new but don't quote me on that. Kyzmette and I are going.

Does anybody on this thread make chicken diapers? I don't want to have to need them, because I will be crying for days if I do, but I would rather have them on hand just in case. And I would rather give my money to somebody local than some big company who gets them made in Bangladesh.
