Are you and Kelly still going to the auction in Nowata Saturday? Is that tomorrow Saturday, or some other Saturday? I've got loads of things to do, but I'd really like to walk up and down a few isles of chickens, just to get that chickeny happy feeling.
I have him on Tylan, trying to get rid of a cough he picked up. Epsom salt soaks on the feet, and a few grains of tramadol in his food for pain. I'm going to stop on the way home tonigbt and pick up neosporin without pain reliever and plain aspirin.
That's actually a fabulous idea. I'm really wanting the kind with pouches, to hold the droppings away from his rump. I think I could rig him something out of plastic potty training pants. I had him in a pair of my panties, but they were too big. And yes, it WAS hilarious.
Just break the hard shell away and leave the membrane.Hatching advice NEEDED!
silkie egg pipped (on time - yay!) yesterday afternoon. You know how normally they break the egg but it take a while to be a hole.? well, this one was a hole as soon as I noticed it. Probably about 3pm. This morning - the other two eggs hatched yesterday all the way - they had pipped, but then unzipped and hatched within an hour. (these were naked neck chicks). The silkie has made no progress past just a slightly bigger hole - and it looked like the edges were browning a bit. Last time, I had one die during the 18 hours or so I was considering helping it. So, this morning - around 11 am, I started a zip for it. Immediately hit blood and put it back in bator. How much time should I give before trying again? Its still alive. It is well over 24 hours since it pipped too. Why would it have done that so much ahead of time if it weren't ready to hatch?
Anyway, I don't want to try again too soon, and certainly don't want to wait too long (again) either.
I would so love to have those hens!!!
OMG!! That is so cool!!!
You could use snack size baggies to fit into the diapers. Just an idea!!!Yes! Please send her my info, send me her info, however it needs to work, please and thank you! Let her know if she can throw one together today I will come by after work to pick it up. I specifically want the kind that has the pouch-like bottom, so it doesn't get smeared all over the bird's rump. Those come with plastic inserts, typically, but if she can't do those so quickly, that's perfectly understandable. They run around $10 without the inserts, $15 with two inserts, but that was on Amazon. And they'll need to be about bantam sized, since he's not fully grown. I know that's a lot to ask on short notice, so if she can't it's entirely understandable.
If she can't do it today, I might pull my sewing machine out of storage. It's been so many years since I last used it, though, I don't even know if it works.
That is really expensive. I would google and find a feed store close.I am interested in growing fodder, does anyone know where I can get bulk wheat seed in the Tulsa area? Amazon has 10lbs for about $20 with free 2-day shipping, didn't know if that was a good deal or not though. Thanks for any help!
