***OKIES in the BYC III ***

@@muesky. No worries with that. I feed my chickens chicken.

@hotcurltr. I have Muscovies and call ducks. I have had no problems with the ducks eating it so far. Back in October I fed them nothing but those pellets and right now I'm cutting into their fermented grains. *disclaimer* I'm no expert. This is just my personal experience.

There was talk earlier of using a broad spectrum antibiotic in the water ... What's recommended?

@Kass - the stitchpoint piece (am I using right word here) is beautiful.

@Rinda - adorable pup

Was Really great to meet True5 and have a chance to chat a bit- the boy is home, as had a foot soak, put lanolin on his poor feet and he is in a 'hospital cage' on a towel to sooth his feet a bit-

and on another note- this is my absolutely awesome tractor from custom coops- he did an awesome job, they stayed warm in the worst of the weather and i plan on getting more...! He is local and really is a piece of craftsmanship!

I am SO glad you got him! Poor guy. I wish I knew who put them up in the auction. I would love to give them a piece of my mind! And I am one of those "non confrontational" people... but not when it comes to this!!!

I just knew you could do something for him. Was it frost bite for sure? First time I ever saw it up close. Keep me updated on his progress! Thank you again for everything! And that tractor is awesome!
EDIT: I took a closer look at those pics of his feet. Wow you really did such wonders! I tried soaking them but maybe only got mud off. Looks like you really cleaned them up! It was such a pleasure to meet you! I hope to be able to visit with you again soon!

Todd is in tahlequah and on byc, custom coops, and i highly recommend his coops! This one is so solid and well put together, i would think the only thing that might harm it would be a bear shoving it over, it is that solid! He is also on facebook, if you go there- https://www.facebook.com/pages/Four...!/pages/Four-Seasons-Handyman/244064488971450

here is the roo after his foot soak, fed him and gave him acv water-

What a handsome guy! Lookin' good! The girls are kind of lost with him gone. They should be better after things are settled down and pecking order established. I can tell he is going to be spoiled. Love to spoil our feathered kids!

Definitely looks like frostbite to me on the buff cockerel, Robin. Is that the conclusion you came to? So glad he's in your hands, he'll get the care he needs from someone who doesn't know the meaning of "time to quit" :)
I'd love to have a tractor like that for several of my b antam pairs. Great work he did.

Definitely respiratory. Best to treat your whole flock. Sometimes this comes in with wild birds robbing food from your feeders.
Best advice I ever got for treating the whole flock came from CJarvis. Get a pig feed with oxytetracycline and feed it for two weeks. It comes in a small pellet like layer pellets in 50# bags. I found it at Shawnee Feed at 177 and Hardesty Road. You can keep treating the single bird like Rinda said.
Artsyrobin gave me some stuff (forgive me again I don't remember the name of it) and started treatment this afternoon for them all. That respiratory junk acts quick! I will remember the pig feed NanaKat. Thank you all again for such awesome advice and help! I don't know what I would do without you all during all this that's happening to my flock. My poor little Thorin (lav orp... my son named him after the Hobbit character. He's too cuddly to be a Thorin lol.) got extra cuddles tonight before the coop was shut. Love my little fluffy butts to pieces. When he was walking stiff legged I thought the worst and thought it was Mereks. (Some things on the BYC is like looking up a diagnosis on WebMD. Could be the sniffles and you diagnosis yourself having something deadly lol). Had him since he was 2 weeks old. Hes now 3, almost 4 months so I am extra attached.

That was duramycin- i find it works fast- i have heard you can put tylan in the water, if shots are a problem- and i have denagaurd, although alot of times the birds won't touch water with it in there even with sugar added

Awe, okay. I got duramycin going right now. Just in one bowl close to coop and I've seen my new birds drinking it. And got it going for those in the sick ward.

On tylan injections...since I don't have anybody to help me, I found it easiest to put the bird on its back in my lap to find an injection site and pull the feathers apart.

How old is this boy w/ the feet??? It might just be the angle but those feet look like they have missing toe(s) from previous damage?? Definitely looks more frostbite then bumblefoot, but if he does have already missing toes it could be something else too. (infection problem, circulation problem come to mind).

True5. Sent you a pm on chicks.

Robyn, after seeing the close up photos of the buff Cochin...I'd say he is a nice boy with a forever home. Sure looks content on that soft blanket.

SonRiseSilkies..Cheryl....don't know which one of the girls is laying yet but one of the Blue or Splash girls laid her first egg today. They are in a pen with my other Blue hens and the big Black rooster.
Onyx is in a breed pen with Big Blue, and Madelyn (my Black) and Margo and Mildred that were purchased from Larry Dye at the Shawnee Show. Madelyn who has been laying for two months decided to go broody when I set up their pen. Margo and Mildred have been laying for three weeks. I'm hoping onyx will be encouraged to begin laying.

he is missing part of a toe from what i can tell, he is 8 months old, very thin, makes me wonder if bad nutrition could be part of it too, i am treating it like frostbite and giving him a extra protiens- True wormed him, so that is a big help too- he won't stand long, and doesn't try to walk around so far, but he has a good appetite

Okay so I have looked and looked at the pictures you have posted of this bird and I am pretty sure if it is really 8 months old you have a pullet not a rooster..
Oh and it will be okay to give her pepper and DE anytime.. It does not kill off parasites like Wazine does...

Actually I agree about it being apullet. I didn't even notice that and just assumed it was a boy because True said it was. Does certainly look like a girl if its a Cochin. An 8 month old Cochin boy would have a huge honking comb. Does he crow? I bet it's a girl.
