Pretty birds Ksane.

~~Finally finished the TARDIS, it has more mistakes then the Weeping Angel did, but I couldn't fix the remaining ones w/o major reworking and couldn't face the seam ripper again!!!! If I don't decide to redo it I'll put the Police box lettering on this one. The background fabric could not have been more perfect find. B/w for a nod to the "old b/w days", circular pattern a nod to the circular Gallifrian language, and compasses, for travel through time and space.

~~All the blue parts of this were 3 layers of fabric a base of either black or white, then 2 layers of blue sheer over them to make the wood grain patterning.
Wow! love the sheer and the background fabric!

awesome job kass

Ok, here's some shots. It's too bad pictures don't show how special these guys are to me. Robin, the 1st ones are Lillith. He's 18 months old now so I don't know how much of a comparison it is. Littlith is the most awesome boy! Super gentle and sweet, he's lived with his 7 Orloff girls since they were all 2 days old and he's so good to them. They have a bench to roost on but they don't use it, the girls all huddle up underneath Lillith to sleep. One night I went into their building in the dark to get their feed tub, it was pitch black. Something rammed into my legs so hard it was all I could do to stay upright lol It was Lillith protecting his girls! I was so proud of him. Once I talked to him and he realized it was me he was fine. His dad was an aggressive fool but Lillith never has been. I put an arrow by his sickle feathers in the one picture. Hens look all rounded and poofy but roosters tails are long and spikey and they stand up super tall and straight. I do think your Buff is a girl and can't wait to find out.

I hatched 4 eggs from Lillith and his Orloffs, they're 3 months old now (2 boys, 2 girls). The boys have a lot more gold on them, feathered legs, beards and cushion combs, really sweet and calm. So here's what a Brown Rd Cochin/Orloff cross cockerel looks like :)

And I was right there so I just had to get new pictures of my Spitzhaubens. I adore these guys and hope nothing happens to them before I get a chance to hatch their eggs.

wow Spitzhaubens are awesome, Oh no another breed for my wish list lol

Would you be interested in a young chocolate hen and black drake.  Free for the asking.  I am going to cut back and only keep a few hens and try to find another drake non related.  I started raising them for the meat but got over run.  I have hens laying now, but am picking up their eggs.  Anyone else interested please jump in, I have 29 young drakes left that are ready to process or breed.  They were born in August and are breeding mothers and sisters now.  They're not pickyLOL.  I tried to post pictures, but it said I didn't have permission to add attachments.  Oh dear.  I really need some lessons on here.

I would love to have the black drake and chocolate hen. Thank you.

I just found it odd that the boys got personalties from the moms, not the dads and seemingly from hatch since they didn't have contact w/ biomoms growing up.  I wondered if there was some consistency to boys inheriting more personality from moms.

The old stringmen often told me that personality traits ran through the female side of the line but I don't know how much is learned behaviar. Our NNs have always been very people friendly with the only challanges being from the hens that had chicks. They would only challange me though and never Teva or the kids.; I've never had a NN rooster flog us or even act like they were going to. Pretty much the same with the Oriental Games that we have had..

Hey everyone. Where is your favorite place to get your chicks?
Breeders and auctions.. I stopped buying from hatcheries several years ago because of the poor condition and quality of the birds.. If I were to buy from a hatchery it would be Welps.. The birds I purchased from them were the best by far.. They contract with small hobby farms to get their eggs..

Does anyone sell your extra eggs? If so, how much do you charge for them?
I get $2.75 per dozen unless they have an egg carton to exchange then I charge $2.50 but like Tony I think the price is going to have to go up this year.. Heck Walmart is selling their supposed "cage free" eggs for $3.25 a dozen..

Well, I went to look at a house today (peruse the outside, backyard, and neighborhood before bothering my realtor about seeing the inside) and am super excited. A little over half an acre (.58) which backs up to a huge park. The house is the last one on a cul-de-sac. The backyard, from what I can see, is a kind of triangle with one side being chain link shared with the neighbor on the left and a concrete barrier on the right probably between 5 and 7 feet tall (hopefully just right for facing my bee hives toward in compliance with city rules). This is really hard to picture I'm sure but if things work out I will definitely show photos later. The property comes with a good sized and seemingly sturdy shed. Of course, I wasn't able to go inside today as my mom and I were just snooping but it definitely looks promising

It's kind of amazing that I just started looking for houses on a whim about a week ago and now I've found something I might not be able to live without! Haha. I've been condo living for over a year but when I broke my femur snowboarding last month I had to have someone caring for me for awhile so I moved in with my mom. Then, I began thinking, "Maybe now's the time... Time to settle down and get a place I can take care of and work around and IT BE MINE."

I've never been a fan of giving my money to a landlord for... What? Space for awhile?
Oh well. There's my story - or some of it.
Getting more and more ready! Excited to see where this road takes me.
Good luck on your house hunt.. It is really exciting to be buying a house.. I bought my first home 5 years ago..

In the animal world mating isn't always about procreation, sometimes it is about dominance, that is what is going on there.
This is true... The other possibility is that your hen is having a sex change.. No I am not crazy and yes this happens.. I had a hen who laid eggs, start crowing and mounting hens.. It freaked me out so I started researching and found this is not uncommon.. Supposedly if their ovaries go bad, which I guess happens due to viruses or illness but that is not conclusive for every case, they start taking on male traits..

Like I said it is not that uncommon.. If this is the case her eggs will be weird, soft and leathery.. And yes my hen continued to lay even after the change.

Next step is to invite them to dinner....

Get them reservations to Camp Freezer!!

Yeah, kinda crazy lol. And special ed teachers (Deaf Ed is considered special ed).
Very much so!! Always glad to see teachers interested in chickens.. I tell people, when my daughter graduated and moved out I filled my empty nest with chickens.. Which is true..

That is so cool how you used the fabric that way.. Nice Job!!!

He looks like my Gregory the 1st. I sure loved that rooster and still miss him a bunch.. He was one of the birds that truly touched my heart.. Sounds like your Lilith is just as sweet and loving..

That tardis is amazing!

Love the full grown spitz pictures, too. @true5 my husband and I were admiring a breeder's birds at the Shawnee show so she came up to chat and ended up giving us the 3 eggs her girls laid at the show. They made it through an 8-10 hour power outage during one of the snow/ice storms and all hatched! Not a breed I planned to keep but with odds like those I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth!

Kass, again you amaze us with your creative talent. Wow!

Ksane...love Lilith. He is a hunk. Loved your protector story too. Gotta love a good protector.

Rinda...nice Spitzhaubens.

Hotcurltr, enjoyed our visit today. It was nice meeting both you and Glen and talking chicken.

Mattok1, fingers crossed on the house.
