***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Going through aquarium fish aisle to get meds for my vent gleet girl and I find erythromycin. So those wanting gallimycin and can only find it online (like me) and needed it yesterday here is our alternative.

Got me two Barnavelder babies from Rinda tonight to add to my crazy obsession.

They are the cutest fluffiest things!!! My other chicks are maybe a week and a half difference on age so I can see a major difference on how much they grow. No wonder they eat and drink like crazy!!! I'm already to the point where I need to go get another bag of chick feed and a larger waterer! I guess it's mainly because there are SO many of them but I found that they love to eat at least.

SO HAPPY THE WEATHER IS GETTING WARMER AGAIN!!!!!!

Does anybody know if Atwoods sells single chicks? I tried to pick one up as a companion for a hatchling last night at TSC and they refused. grumblemumblegrump I don't NEED six more production reds inside the house!

Or does anybody in the Tulsa area have any new babies? Rinda? Have a spare girl Legbar or Isbar floating around that just hatched? I'm looking for a new hatch and another around two weeks old.

Girls, if it's possible at all, dear Lord let them be girls.

I've always got whatever # of chicks I wanted at ATWOODS. Don't know why you couldn't get just one. Large chicks yesterday were 2.79. Others were $3 and some odd cents.

Haha, I'm surprised they wouldn't let you buy just one.

I do have chicks, from about a week old up to 3 weeks old. Mostly Cream Legbars and Isbars, and a black Ameraucana or two. My next hatch is Monday I will have some double laced Barnevelders then, everything else is spoken for already. Only the Cream Legbars are guaranteed girls.

Picked up the Leghorn chicks yesterday that the feed store special ordered for me. Cuties! 6 females and 1 male. Their min for special order was 5 chicks, I got them at the Farmers Co-op in Coweta. My Sapphire mixes are just so popular I just wish I could have found older birds but chicks will get me there eventually.

Wow I have had orders pouring in for hatching eggs, particularly for the week of the Easter Hatch-a-long set. I'm not going to have full settings for my self for a while. Just as well since I still only have the one borrowed tower brooder. Sold 3 doz yesterday to a teacher at Inola, and he wants two other breeds when they get going. Sweet deal for him- the school pays for the eggs so the students can hatch them and pick through them for 4H and I'm sure he gets to keep any extras!

Morning everyone. I was greeted with a slaughter this morning, my first big loss. Three hens outside the coop without heads. I am certain it was skunks, there was a hole dug under the fence in a gap where the rocks lined it. I realized imediately that my roo Jack was missing, and after a head count realized that my favorite hen BigMama was gone too. Those B*#@%^ killed five of my flock. My Husband assured me that was their last meal, we will set traps tonight, and we know where they live.

RIP Big Mama

Jack

I guess I am in the market for a new roo, once we get the skunks are taken care of. I would like another Brahma or a Jersey Giant.

As much as a pain as it is being for you - I am hoping that they are not selling a single chick on the premise that they should have company. That being said - after you told them what you were doing with it - the manager should have granted an exception.

@Kassaundra , how is your knee doing? Did you have any luck with that walking garlic you planted a few years back?

@Poco Pollo , for a spraddle legged chick - how long did you leave it in the cup- and how often a day? My chick gets itself out pretty quickly, but I could make it stay if that is what is needed. I am wondering if I want to go this way or try bandaids first.

It is a pretty little chick... with our barred rock roosters, we rarely get white chicks but this one is. I believe that it is from a red sex link egg. Possible sires are a blrw, blue silkie, or.... well, that's about it. It is yellow with three tiny black spots - if I thought it possible to be a paint silkie mix, that is what I would call it! But no signs of silkie in there...and my paint roo was contained the whole time. Anyway, a bit splayed but otherwise healthy looking!

@hotcurltr how is your leg doing?

Hope y'all have a great day today!

So very sorry for your loss! I understand the anguish and anger that comes with it too!

I hope that YOUR day gets much better.

Rinda, they let me buy them singly last year, but I think their new management this year hasn't hit the point yet where they know how to think outside the box.

Robin, I totally agree on them not selling single chicks, but doggoneit, I've bought chicks from them before and they know me. I think I'm going to call them and talk to them about it, because I'd hate to have to take my business somewhere else. Every time I go in a store to buy one thing, I buy something else too.

Oh @TaraBellaBirds I'm so sorry for your loss! How awful! I know Big Mama was one of your special babies, and how devastating that has to be. I would offer you one of these Ameraucana/EE roos Cathie Sue and I have to get rid of, but that's not what you're looking for.
