***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Rinda, I've heard great things about colloidal silver used in eye injuries.

Well, I got through the winter with few losses, so today must have been my day. I lost my Zima, but no idea why, she was just dead in her pen. Poor baby girl.

Did it smell???

Looks like it got contaminated and grew bacteria/fungus.

X2 I would NOT eat that egg.

That's interesting that penicillian takes 48 hours to really kick in. But I'm not going to stop the colloidal silver drops, just keep letting everything heal. I know there is a time and a place for antibiotics but I treat all my kids ear infections and pink eye infections with colloidal silver- saves an $85 doctor bill and a $$ prescription. As long as they don't have chronic problems that is. It isn't for every time but I KNOW it works much of the time.
no it didn't smell at all.

and i defiantly didn't eat it i poured it down the drain glad i cracked into empty bowl and not into cake mix lol.

So nice to get back on and try to catch up with everyone! I feel much normal now that I have read some chicken stories! So sorry about the sicknesses and darn predators. I worry about my chickens constantly! Looks like my coop project is on hold for awhile. Hubby broke his leg/ankle in 5 different spots because he swerved to miss a deer and went flying and hit a tree last Friday. Life is now a complete mess but hes alive and Im thankful for that. Other than that Im sick of the weather going back to cold! I wish it could stay at a nice 70 degrees.

Sorry about the hubby.

Eye worm...treat with ivomec drops directly in the eye and follow-up five days later with another application

Pink eye....saline water, vetrycin spray and pink eye dust and a patch. For a chicken use a piece of a flexible bandaid. Leave on until it falls off on its own. Colloidal silver is great for eye injuries.

Glaucoma/blindness...do any of you remember my Angel...white EE..that was blind in both eyes. She lived on the roost. She had her own food and water cups and raised a chick in a cage.

If the eye is bubbly and he is breathing with his mouth open, it could still be respiratory too....antibiotics...like Someone said penicillin/amoxycillin

Wow! Glad to hear he will be okay!

OK, I have lost my mind! I just put 65 eggs into lockdown! This does not include all the other ones still incubating. Maybe getting grace's incubator isn't such a good idea. I am out of control! Isn't there an incubators anonymous thread? Maybe they can help me out lol

I have 30 going into lock down on Fri night.

I am considering loading the incubator right back up as soon as hatch is over. Since my borrowed girls will be going back home.
