***OKIES in the BYC III ***

One of my EE hens flew into the dog yard yesterday and they plucked her back and took skin off of a spot on her wings. I found her in the dog house. I'm surprised they didn't kill her since they did that to her.

And I couldn't find my olive eager pullet Olive last night. She sleeps in the house at night and she didn't come running like she always did when I call her name. Of all the chickens that have died I will be upset if I can't find this one alive. I hope she is hunkered down somewhere.
I sure do hope that you find her. Is it likely that they flew together?

Sorry for the double post - my editor was acting weird.

Different topic:

I am hatching some chicks in a little brinsea and have the humidity WAY up in them. Because if such high humidity - it doesn't seem as the ones that have hatched are fluffing - but instead staying damp. I could lift the lid to relieve some of the humidity...but there are pipped eggs and they are the reason why I have it so high to begin with. Do you think the extended damp time be a problem?

Kim, as long as they stay warm it shouldn't be a problem. You're hatching exactly like I do, I usualy pull the chicks out and get them under dry heat as soon as possible, like within 15 min of hatch. If there's several to hatch it gets crowded in thgre fast.

I have 2 dead Bosch dishwashers I am thinking about taking one turning it on it's back (door up) building a case w/ wheels around it and turning it into a hatcher. It is stainless inside. I would need to figure out a way to put a window in it somewhere, what good is a hatcher w/o a window???? lol lol lol

I looked the best I could in the dark for her but she's a gold duckwing pattern and my flashlight was dim b/c I left it on all day. My dad is going over to my house to feed for me now and I asked him to look for her.

lifted a board in the bantam run, 4 big mouse nests- the chickens loved it, but i feel bad, they stood and stared, then it was mahem! and the muscovy ducks totally ignored them-

Last night I was going to let my Cochin stay her first night in the coop since she and the girls were doing so good together. When I checked on her later on she had some nasty bloody pecks all over her comb and some on her neck from my darn cockerel. So... anyone know a reasonable price I should sell my Lav Orp 6 mo old? He's just too much for the girls to put up with and this was the straw that broke the camels back. He's big enough for freezer camp but I don't have the heart. Hes going to be a big beautiful boy!
