***OKIES in the BYC III ***

What are you using to measure humidity?  Many of those instruments are notoriously inaccurate.  As long as you have all the water out I think you can go ahead and start your eggs.  Dry hatching seems to work really well here in Oklahoma, you only need to add water at lockdown (day 18).
I have just been using the hydrometer that came on it I dumped all the water and it went down to 30% so I added about a syringe of wafer. I should just dump that out and put how much water on lockdown day

I need help I started a thread in the incubating section and have had no response. I was hoping to set my eggs tonight but can't get humidity to go down I even dumped all the water out and its still at 60% any suggestions are welcome:)
Also, ambient humidity is high with the weather tonight. It will drop once the front moves through - sunday should be a high humidity day too, then it will get dryer. Plus, if you are running the incubator - the higher temps will also tend to lessen the humidity.

I guess a lightweight small kitchen towel would work??

That's what I use

I normally use the dry hatch but this winter/ spring has kept my humidity at 12 which is too low

@true5 you got Dorkings??? I love Dorkings!!! Let me know if you find out you just don't have enough room for them, because I've been trying to get a couple more girls for a while.

This is Lord and Lady Dingwald. He looks so much better than he did when I first brought him home.

WOW! He looks BEAUTIFUL! If you ever decide to sell some eggs from him and his gals I would love a few! He just looks absolutely amazing!

LOVE!!!

Sweet! I will PM you on FB to figure out all that I am going to buy. I just know my FIL has mentioned how he loves the black and white speckled ones and I can only figure those are what he's talking about.

Sorry when you didn't say something right away I left them listed on Craigslist, sold two pullets yesterday and have someone coming this afternoon to look at the last 4 pullets. :( If they don't take them I will save them for you.

If you can keep the humidity during incubation between 20 and 30% I find that is ideal. Cayuse is right, you don't want it in the low teens. At lockdown just fill the water tray, then don't open the incubator until they are all done hatching.

OK well I read up a little more on dry hatch and I've decided to go semi dry so were gonna keep it at around 30 then up it to around 65% the last 3 days. Hopefully this will work.

My hatch with Lindy's eggs seems to be going well. I think 2 of 3 Isbar, 2 of 3 Barnevelder, and 5 of 6 Cream Legbar eggs are developing. I wasn't sure enough of the 3 iffies to toss them, so they're still cooking away. My Jubilee eggs (from an online auction) aren't faring so well. I'm pretty positive only 2 of 6 are good. I only paid for 5, and got a pretty cheap price, so I guess that's not so bad.
I'm hoping Lindy has some Jubilee eggs ready to go in a week or so!

i have been working with this little silkie for a few months, he gradually lost his ability to walk, so today he hops of his box and is staggering, trying to walk!! am so jazzed!!!

Hehe you meant Rinda, right? Soon! I need to go out tonight and trim bum feathers, they are SO fluffy I think the rooster isn't making contact when he mates them, still having about 50% fertility rate. Glad your others are doing well! As long as the iffies don't smell rotten when you bring them to your nose it won't hurt to leave them in just in case.
