I had never heard this one before, then it was on the radio.

Somehow i hear it all the time at work. Along with the ever popular "Why did the chicken cross the road"answered by "To get to Liz in Accounting, of course." This is not by any stretch of the imagination funny but my colleagues just laugh and laugh. Weirdos.

I had a lineup waiting for me when I got home! Some Cornish, there's a Brahma Bantam in there somewhere, although they look the same size to me, and if I'm not mistaken, I think that yellow one is a Wheaten Marans. Coral, is that what they look like?

I did have shrinkwrapping. All three blue eggs in the bator and the rest of the Brahma Bantams did. I wonder if some eggshells are more susceptible to humidity loss to the level of shrinkwrapping.

yay! chicks!

I am just sick tonight.... Merlin managed to get one of the grow pens open this afternoon and I can't even think about all the dead and injured birds I've been dealing with for the last hour, all about 8-12 weeks old and most of the dead ones are girls....  I know you guys understand....  praying I let him LIVE through puppyhood.... he's been bored because of the rain/cold and no one to play with and that makes him destructive...

I am so sorry to hear this. A few weeks ago, after a weasel broke in and took TOO MANY to say, our dogs escaped their yard and broke into the chickens' taking all but a few. It's just devastating. Hatching eggs, watching chicks grow...it's a beautiful thing. Who knew there'd be so much sadness along with it? The weasel attack just about put me over the edge. I bawled...and I am not a crier. We work so hard to get these chickens grown! I seriously questioned whether or not I should be raising them after the dog incident. But, with every loss we learn something and become a little more predator proof.

I'm crossing my fingers for your little Barnies.

I know this is not a chicken post, sorry! So my cat Flora is in labor!!! She just had a little orange tabby which appears to have 24 toes.. Flora scared me to death because she screamed when she delivered the first kitten. I have helped hundreds of cats in labor and never had one scream... Well I am a due back in the delivery room, aka the bathroom... I will post a pic of the furry kittlets after they are born...
