***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hi! I'm from around the Green Country area, in between Owasso and Claremore. I have 3 Barred Rock hens, 1 Rhode Island Red hen, 1 Buff Orpington, 2 Amber Star Hybrid hens, 2 Buff Brahma Bantam hens, and a Buff Brahma bantam rooster. I also garden and quilt. Loving the BYC so far!

Just read an article about putting cuke slices on a pie tin, it said it makes a scent that humans can't smell but bugs don't like and it will drive them out of the garden. Don't think I believe it, but it sure won't hurt to try it on squash bugs.

Knew a young German man once, that made beautiful vegetable gardens that his parents from the old country had taught him. He planted certain flowers, and herbs in layouts throughout his garden that deterred the bugs.

At the time I met him, he was dating a city girl, and they were talking marriage, but she didn't want to live in the country with him, and especially didn't like the idea of vegetable gardens.
But, despite their differences, they finally wed in the early summer, and he needed to tend his garden, go she agreed they'd live at his place temporarily. Not many days later, he awoke early one morning, and was surprised, and questioned his new bride as to why she was already up. I'm going to the garden, she replied. (He); but you said you didn't like gardens. (She); Well; you didn't tell me how beautiful it was.

Good evening everyone!!
I did not go back to catch up, so I hope everyone is doing well.. Just got on to say "Hi".. Hope many of you are going to be going to Newcastle Saturday... I am really looking forward to it..

Just wanted to give an up date on the chicken yard. I am in the finishing phase. I still need to put the door on the last breeder pen and assemble the watering system. I have all the pieces prepped and tomorrow I will put it together in the pens, I am going to wait til this weekend to take the traditional waters away, so I can be here to show them how to use them.. I got the feeders built last weekend. I will post pics when everything is done.. Of course now that it is almost done I am thinking of things I want to change or redo.. Never satisfied.. hehehe!

I am looking forward to POOPS but have so much to get done between now and then it seems so far away but there is not enough time in the day until then, if that makes any sense..

Maybe after this weekend I will be able to get on the board more often..
