***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I think someone on here said they could sex Ameraucana chicks by their pea combs.. 3 rows for boys and one row for girls, or something like that?

They all have 3 rows but the boys middle row sticks up above the rest. I can usually tell the boys right away but some I thought were girls get comb development later. So basically you can usually rule OUT girls but can't always rulenout the boys right away.
My son's wedding here in NC is at 5:00 today. 74 degrees and not a cloud in the sky is the forecast. It's beautiful here!!
Here's their deck where I'm having coffee (their house is way way super way nicer than mine, I'm so glad).

x2 MUCH easier on Ameraucanas to be sure of a boy than sure of a girl. Very common for a boy to be a late bloomer. But yes go by the size of the middle row and also the tint, boys redden up first.

Thanks for helping me out! Thinking I may keep one of these green eggers, much to my husband's dismay ;)

I have 2 RIR that were supposed to be pullets but only one of them has a comb. They are approximately 11 weeks old. The one without a comb is smaller than the one with a comb but she always has been. Could I have gotten a roo by mistake?

I'm very new to chickens. My very first chickens (3 RIRs) should be arriving next week. I am pretty sure both roo and hen RIRs have combs... someone please correct me if I'm wrong... but maybe the smaller one is just taking a bit longer to develop?

Where can you buy ACV w/mother. I tried my Wal-Mart and they did not have it, I know you can order it on line, but wanting to get some today. Also I picked up some Poly Vi Sol without/iron, can i put this in the chickens water for vitamins. Thanks

That's strange they didn't have it. My small town walmart carries the Heinz brand. Try a grocery store. I got the Braggs brand at a Reasors.
