It's strange how for granted one can take the simple things in life, like being able to walk or bike.

@hotcurltr , I'm going to post some pics of available boys to bring to poops. I haven't caponized any b/c of being sick, and I still have a horrible cough. I didn't want to be the "typhoid kat" that started a whole new chicken/human cross pandemic, killing 1/2 the worlds population, b/c of standing over open birds coughing obviously human germs into their open bodies creating some super bug. ........................................................................................................... Okay maybe I watch to much "Monsters Inside Me" but no one thinks THEY are going to be THE ONE. lol

Anyway I want to pick out your boy first. I am fine w/ choosing one for you, I just really need to know what is most important to you. Feather color pattern, uniqueness, really dark skin, size (either big or small), size of bow tie, etc....

I have some I think are going to be striking looking, but have larger bow ties, some have top hats, some darker skin, others not dark skinned, one has tufts and is going to be a version of very pretty bbr (I think) one that is small going to be a very pretty bbr color pea comb, hatched from a green egg and very clean necked (no feathers at all b/c of the pea comb) and many other combos.

Yes I think you watch too much sci fi. Although????????? I don't know enough about them to choose. I don't care about skin color as far as being really dark, but I thought u said they had to have a darker shade to have the fm gene. Forgive me if I'm wrong. I CRS. What is a bbr? Size isn't important . I do like uniqueness. But am not sure what u mean in the way of NN. I like bow ties, top hats, but again, I would rather have something that is welll proportioned.. He will probably become my main man and be bred to a very eclectic flock. The only color pattern I'm not crazy about is like a barred rock, although I do have dominques and a barred rock and love em. Geez. It's like that song,I love them everyone, big, little , short or tall. LOL I am going to try for some showgirls, and realize, I won't get it to perfection at first. Some polish and other breeds w/ top hats, and then my plain ladies. I have lots of purebreds and a lot of production hybrids too. Unfortunately, my brabanters, polish, sumantras and all the others didn't hatch. All that hatched was a red pyle , an ee out of a blue egg and a buff brahma. So my first try at buying and incubating hatched eggs was a flop. I'm trying now w/ some of Floyd's girls, all blue eggs. Some are ee and some are Americauna. So I'll find out if it's the incubator and if i need to get a new one. So, now u know the rest of the story.. You should be able to figure it out from there. I think NN from different breeds are really cool. Lost one of my OEGLF pullets. I couldn't find her last night and I'm so mad because if I would of looked harder I would of found her. Somehow she squeezed between a portable pen a have and a fence along the coop and couldn't get out. If she was crying I couldn't hear her because all the others were making a racket because i was there. m I can't imagine her fitting , but they fool you as top what they can get into. They are some of my favorite hens because they tame so easily and are broody, so after having two that stayed broody most of the time I bought some young pullets, hoping I wouldn't have to rely on an incubatorr much after my first disaster. Windy, as usual. I really need to read and catch up. I have no idea what others have been going through. I pray nothing really bad..

Monsters Inside Me, isn't sci fi, it is a medical documentary about parasites, germs, bacteria, viruses, microbes that make people sick in all kinds of ways. I love the show, it creeps my husband out.

Looking around the only way it could have gotten in is at the top of the coop is a vented area, but it is no larger then 4 inches by 6 inches. There where feathers around that area so he had to have gotten in that way, killed two and took the other one off. I am so mad at myself, should have put wire on the vented area especially since i have been seeing and having coon problems. There was a buff bantam cochin rooster and his girl in with the 3 month olds, The coon got to the rooster but is he still alive, but looks like on his left ear there is a puncture wound so he probably lost his hearing. Anyway I have him isolated right now.

So the rest of the day will be putting up hardware cloth where it should of been in the first place and making sure all doors and windows are coon proofed on all of my coops.

Time to set some traps and feed them some lead.
