***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Bumpers is such a show-off :lau
The birds I've hatched from humongous eggs have all done exceptionally well over the years. It may be a combination of more room, a bigger yolk with more nutrients plus the bigger eggs normally coming from a mature he nvs a pullet. I've got a beautiful Splash Ameraucana/Cochin pullet (8 mo) who lays huge Blue double yolked eggs, every egg she lays is that way. I'm anxious to see if the Bumpers girls also lay gigantuous eggs like their mama.

That IS one of the Bumpers sprog's eggs... and that's a pullet egg. I've decided to keep one of Floyd's boys and breed them back together along with the Minorcas to hopefully get a flock that lays consistently like this.

They shall be the Bumpies, and the Bumpies shall rule all!!! Muahahahaha!!!

I have blue egglayers I'd like to add into the mix, but it'll be forever before I breed that brown out enough to be happy with it.

what causes a sticky hatch? About the time i decided to downsize a friend sent me a box of eggs- they were due to hatch today- 2 did, but the sgirl egg started to hatch, halfway around and died??

these guys are in the brooder the yellow no problem, this guy hatched sticky, and the third died

Sharkman Dan, a small flock of guinea fowl, allowed to free-range at least part time, will do wonders to greatly reduce or eradicate the tick population. They also consume large numbers of grasshoppers and many other insects. We had a HUGE tick problem until we got guineas. Our current flock can only free range part time, but they still keep the tick population to almost nonexistent on our two acres, partially wooded property.

I double-majored in elementary education and art many years ago, but left after two years to get married and start a family. Does that allow me any sort of entry into those two groups? I've continued my art work sporadically through the years, in several media.
