***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Can I show off pictures of my first cockerel to reach this age? Lol.
He's a handsome fella, I think.

He reminds me of my Oreo, who was killed last year.

I have a 12 week old boy (the slip who just had surgery this week) trying to mount his 12 week old hatchmates. The red boy w/ the tufts, he may be invited to dinner soon.

It's been a depressing day, had to cull one of my few hens. She has been lame and in pain for a week or so, I've kept my eye on her looking for any sign of improvement, I examined her thouroghly several times for injury and examined her after culling still have no clue why she was lame, everything looked normal and healthy.

Wow I just spent a lot of money on my fly problem.

It better work. The flys are all grouped together around the vanilla trees (which oddly smell like pineapples) we hung last night. My husband said they're talking about leaving.

Wow I just let my dogs out to go potty before bed and scared off a huge owl.

Worst chicken mom ever! I wrapped the broken leg, then did look at it for over a day. On the second day I looked and saw blisters! Got the wrap off. Soaked in Epsom salt that noon and then again tonight. Well, daughter soaked foot. I looked at it tonight and the foot looks green! Blisters in between all the toes - they popped. Not sure what is going on on the bottom of his foot, but it looks white - now this is after a soak. It doesn't stink at least there is that.

So, did wrapping cut off circulation and now I am killing the foot? What are the blisters all about?! Cr*P

I am taking him on the road with me - getting ready for the cow thing so vet help is not really an option. I have no idea if the soaking is a good thing or not - given the open wounds. I went ahead and sprayed wth vetricin for the first time. Here are the pics.

Pretty sure green is a sign of healing in birds, so good news. I would continue the warm Epsom salt baths and veteran after. Keeping him on clean bedding I think may be an alternative to wrapping it?

thanks for the reply, I know it is late - trying to get ready for the trip plus helping the kids make cookies for a contest.... he is now on a clean towel instead of the shavings. Will bring some towels with us!
