I have a weird question. When posting a rooster/roosters on Craigslist for free is there a concern they might be used for fighting? I'm just wondering. I'd rather just raise them and eat them than risk that. Which was our original plan anyway, just thought Id give them a chance to be roosters somewhere else. Does that stuff even happen anymore? And what would a bantam be useful for anyway? I'm feeling like an overly paranoid person now.

That is not a weird question, and yes, a very real possibility for them to be used by those who fight roosters, also bait or live food. There are those that use it as free meat, that is the best case scenario, b/c then they will likely be killed humanely.

you can always sell them already culled as snake food. Frozen.

yeah, it's more economical to use it for food for yourself (grocery bill) than it would be to get a couple dollars for them at 6 weeks.

I had a bad feeling about an interaction today. I gave away a little rooster on Craigslist a few months ago. Same guy responded to my current ad, listing 4 free roosters and only said I'll take them and wants to meet right away. I'm in tears now wondering what sweet little Reggie's fate was. I really thought I was giving him a chance at life. I think I made a huge mistake but I don't know for sure. I do know when I asked why he wanted these 4 I have heard nothing. I'm going to take the 4 off CL and go sit in the coop and watch my birds and try to not feel like a bad person.
