***OKIES in the BYC III ***

My golden neck d'uccle was taken by a hawk the other day. I saw 4 of them flying around yesterday so I am guessing they were looking for more snacks. We found a few if her feathers and a bug black feather far from where they usually hang out. She was my 7 yo son's favorite

I'm so sorry. D'uccles are so very sweet and it seems like it's always the kids favorite that something happens to :(

So, I think by the beginning of September we will be living in a new house in the country!!! Yea!! The chickens are entirely to blame for this as I realized I really want to breed silkies and maybe others. :) happy dance over here. 9 acres!!!
I feel like I should add that we've been wanting to move to the country for a long while. Just got serious about it recently!

Kass, thought I'd report on the raspberries you brought to me at POOPS. There were five pieces. Two are doing very well and the others are hanging on. The two doing well are in different spots, so I should have two good starts at least.

Mary Jo, the Black and Blue Salvia, flowering almond and mint we bought from you are doing very well.

Thank you both for bringing them!

Leave the ones "hanging on" until next spring they may be doing more underground then it looks like above ground.

@NanaKat I'm loving your mama han & babies pictures  Those hens make it look easy and I soooo know it isn't.

@Ashtree Congrats! You're going to absolutely love being out away from town.

I've had 2 Capuchine pigeon hens for a year or so now and have considered many times getting more. I got 6 Modenas and 2 La Flores todays (from good ole' Mary's Swap). I think I still need more boys-the seller said I could get equal numbers of male/female but I wanted to look into that. Right now I've got 4 boys and 6 girls total in a secure 10x10 pen. Does anyone know if that's enough room if I got 2 more boys & had 6 pairs? I don't want the boys to fight but the seller said they're not like chickens and wouldn't fight in that amount of room, is that true?
I got the 1 big white boy because he's 8 yrs old and was kind of beat up and has a blind eye. I sure do like these guys. The 1st 2 pictures are the 2 girls I've had awhile. The others are ones I got today.
Ashley, you might look up pigeons for your son, I think he'd really enjoy them and they're pretty hardy birds and make the coolest noise.

Your pics remind me of a okie poster I never see on here anymore, for the life of me can't remember his user name, but he lived out of state and was planning on moving to OK to the Poteau area I believe. He had lots of fancy pigeons and guinea pigs, and an avid gardener.

Mitzi, your first pigeon looks like Liberace, and your second pigeon looks like Elizabeth Taylor.

@KsaneNo joke! Those are super fancy birds. You'll have tell me about them, I told my dh and he said "I've always wanted pigeons" news to me. And I've not met a single animal ever my son hasn't loved but cats and chickens are his favorites! I'm hoping this move means I can finally get a corgi :fl I'm starting to feel crazy now, listing all the animals on our must have list. I haven't even gotten to Nigerian dwarfs yet :)
