***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I'd join the fight, but when I lost Lord Dingwald it just took the Dorking heart out of me. I'd buy the Orps, but I've been thinking about how I have too many chickens.

Hey, @Sharkman Dan, do you want some EE chicks? Or anybody else? I have Legbar mixes that are stinking adorable, have never been introduced to the flock, and should lay blue to olive eggs.

I'm sorry that I didn't answer quicker. I've been doing more than I should, and last night, I simply zonked out, for close to ten hours. I never even got on, late last night, like I normally do.

Absolutely, yes. I'd love to. Send me a PM, or, I'll send you one, with my phone number, and we'll discuss the particulars.

I have a batch of pullets just starting to lay! I'm pretty excited because oneveryone of my olive Eggers has given me 3 beautiful green eggs so far. Egg production was down but with this cooler weather I have been getting up to 8 eggs a day. That's a lot of eggs for us! I need ideas on what to do with so many!
What are your all doing to use up so many eggs??!!! So far it's hard boiling and then also angel food cake. I need more ideas!

I am still trying to get a new home for 4 of my hens. Trying to find someone to take two of each breed because they are pretty attached to each other. I have had offers but it's a "hold it for me please" then when it comes to the day they change their mind usually due to finances. So, I'm still putting this outogether there...
2 Lavender Orpingtons 2 Dorkings. All girls, all laying. Orpingtons are a hoot! They are so use to people they will steal your food from your hand! $30 for 2. For BYCers $50 for all 4. I need to get my non SFH hens a new home. Otherwise I would keep them. I won't take them to auction because I want to make sure they get a good home.

We share eggs, with family, friends and neighbors. Plus, I just got some stuff, for pickling eggs, too. And, whenever we are invited to dinner, somewhere, I offer to make potato, macaroni or egg salad. I use as much in eggs, as I do the potato or macaroni.

PM sent, regarding the four hens. I want them, and, at that price, I can't pass it up.

It's lockdown time. Out of 24 eggs, 2 Blue Laced Barnevelders, 1 Speckled Sussex, 1 Spitzhauben, 1 Welsummer, 1 Gold Laced Wyandotte, 1 Rhode Island Red, 1 Partridge Penedensca, and 1 Buff Brahma are still the bator. Some of those are just "in-hopes-of." It's hard to candle dark eggs! Mid-week can't come soon enough. It's a good thing we have school enrollment, soccer practice, and work to do!

I'm finishing up my tractor coop today. I love power tools. Hopefully, I'll snap a few pics of it tomorrow.

I'm not quite sure what we are going to do. We have been using nippled buckets, for watering ours. I guess I need to start looking for aquarium heaters?
Any suggestion, on size? I'm thinking that a 25-50 watt heater, in each bucket, should be plenty of heat to keep the water warm-ish.
Thoughts?

About to go look at some two week old Rhode island reds. Anyone know how to tell if they're production reds or bred to standard at that age? I won't be able to see the parents they were hatched out of bator.

as far as I know, no you can't tell at that age. But I don't have much experience with rir. Good luck!
