My family is so excited about those ducks! We're stocking the pond with fish for those loud girls and setting up a bench close by so we can watch them be silly ducks. Ill try to post a picture of their soon to be home in the next few days, Im so bad about pictures tho. @Kyzmette Ill get a picture of that silkie soon too. We named him little blue and everyday Arlo checks him for wattles and/or comb growth.
So far looks like a pullet but acts like a roo![]()

I got my first silkie egg yesterday @bardies that bossy little catdance pullet is indeed a pullet.Im so proud of her.![]()
Ive got a marans "pullet" thats about 11 weeks old with a pretty sizable but pale pinkish comb. No saddle or hackle or sickle feathers yet but big legs. Anyone with marans have pullets with serious legs? Definitely no roosterish behavior and since she's in a coop with only pullets I think she would be acting dominate right?
Has anyone had any luck treating chicken lice (which is what Im dealing with) with coconut oil? I did the first sevin dust treatment to the girls last week (saw nothing on the silkies-separate coop-but treated them anyway) but I did notice in the other coop 1 girl had it way worse than everyone else, it was sad to see. Is that normal? Should I do anything special for her? Im wondering if I can use coconut oil for the 2nd treatment? Ive read some pretty good reviews on this site; has anyone here ever tried it? And maybe TMI here but when my human kids had lice last year we successfully treated with coconut oil. I think Ill try it out at least.
Yay, so good to hear!
