This is about my rabbitat I've been working on. Got a working thermometer and so far today before the frozen water bottles were added the outside temps were low 90's and in the dens 79. I'll update w/ the numbers for this afternoon when the outside temps are going to be 100 and a frozen water bottle added.

You have rabbits? Or are you using the rabbitat for chickens? We raise rabbits too!

Just started w/ rabbits in June. Have been working frantically on making the "Rabbitat" it was an idea that came from my research into raising rabbits in hot 3rd world countries and my ideas and using what was available in our area for free, or cheap, or easy.

I love what you've done! I have also thought about rabbits as a food for 3rd world countries. We have hutches right now but when I move I'd like to build some outdoor areas where they can burrow and have their kits naturally. We raise Champagne D'Argents and Silver Foxes. I love it! The only worry I have with them bein on the ground is Cocci. We also try to have a natural diet instead of pellets. There is an awesome book by Boyd Craven that is called Beyond the Pellet. It is an amazing book. It tells you what you need to know to grow and preserve natural foods for your buns! We sprout barley, BOSS, and wheat for ours. Its like bunny crack! Keep up the good work!

I could have written most of that post about our rabbits. We just have 2 mutts and the babies now, but I have decided on silver fox when I'm ready to get off the "training wheel" rabbits. I have 2 of Mr. Cravens books the Beyond the pellet and the colony raising one, and am on his FB rabbit group. We sprout those grains you mentioned plus oat, and a deer forage mixture. I can't say enough how much the LOVE the sprouts, I thought my chickens loved the sprouts, but man these buns really love them. Elm leaves sweet potato and mulberry leaves are also huge favorites. We feed many weeds from the yard, ragweed, crab grass, catbrier, raspberry, sunflower, garden veggie leaves, seldom give a pellet, except to the doe she gets all the weeds, pellets she wants and a handful of boss daily, since June she has been preggers 3 times (about to pop on her 3rd litter) and nursing. Her and the male do not like to be separated, going to try and separate them again today or tomorrow and see if we can keep them apart for this next kindle.

Oh and this fall I'm planting a willow hedge for feeding the buns to prevent cocci

I want to plant a willow hedge so bad! I just bought a new property and we are in the planning stages to build a storage container house that's off the grid. When we move out there I will have some willow! I do give my rabbits a few pellets in the week just in case we ever have to go somewhere. That way someone can swoop in and care for them without having to mess with sprouting. Even though it is super easy. I just have some corid on site to give to my rabbits as a preventative. We do ACV in the water too. I wish you all the luck! I love my rabbits and they are super tasty too! lol

OH! I don't know where you're located but I may have a couple of silver fox kits available soon. I have 4 kits that are pretty much weined and my brother is keeping a doe for him (I promised him one because his doe died) and I'm keeping a doe as well. So, if you're interested in any let me know. They are all pedigreed.

I am in Henryetta, but work in Muskogee. Westville is over by Stillwell, between Tahlequah and Arkansas right? I will definitely be interested in some silver fox, but not for several months, a lot of irons in the fire and want to be ready for the rabbits this time BEFORE we get them!!!! lol lol lol What a novel idea!
