***OKIES in the BYC III ***

thats my guess too, no wattles, and no streamers- at 6 months you expect to see quite a few streamers
oh good

..... the comb was looking quit lage and i thought i saw a streamer but she is molting so could also be new feathers coming in. what color is that roo it is pretty.

Home finally from moving the Prague herd back to the farm. Their grass was shriveling out and needs rain. In the meantime, we will begin to wean the six month old calves. We wean by putting the mothers in one pasture and across the fence in another pasture we put the calves. They can touch noses and sleep near each other, but not get milk from the moms. Usually takes about a week for the mothers bags to shrink. We will bring the Choctaw herd home this week too and begin weaning them. Also the Meeker herd has calves old enough to wean.
The boys want to get all this done, before I have surgery. It was rough enough driving a truck and trailer today.

Still working on the coops Still need to get the hinges and roll roofing. Maybe later today.
Right now, I 'm going to fix us a late lunch, hem a pair of Roger's new jeans....and take a nap.

Oh, a nap sounds SO good right now!

This is princess Thumbelina. We are hoping its a female. Thoughts?
X3 I'd say rooster. Sorry!

@kelielliott I think your polish is a roo. And it looks like your partridge does not have a walnut comb, that's maybe a rose comb. He's likely a mix if he doesn't have feathered feet.
I think your best bet is calling them both silkie mixes or pet-quality silkies. If one is mixed most likely they all are. If they are the only birds entered in their class at a show they can place a ribbon- doesn't mean they are good quality.

here are some picks of the chicks i got from @Kyzmette they are cuties

Adorable!

Have you looked at the legs on those? They both look like girls so far, but I'm still working on building some identifiable traits in them.

The standard is the same for nonbearded silkie (other than no beard) Th patridge loks like a blue partridge silkie mixed with something else. I've never seen a silkie with no foot and leg feathers, and you're right, the comb is too big and not the normal shape for a silkie. His crest and overall body type are pretty good, though. The whites look like pet qualiy, hatchery birds.
