***OKIES in the BYC III ***

well, i ferment crumble and scratch, no one has died of it, but don't start it with acv added, i found out the hard way it will cause it to ferment aka alcoholic- i dumped it out and started fresh and for your laugh for tonite- Spit has gone broody after laying for a week....
That's what I wanted to hear! And isn't that always the way it is! We wait and wait just to be teased and growled at!

ROFL @NanaKat that Spit is a Spitfire when she's broody, isn't she??
she is, she is tiny, a serama, just barely started laying, but is really single minded!

its a monday, heard quacking and saw one of the dog had a black uck girl down, and harrassing her, back on the chain and retraining for Tinkerbell(first incident in 2 years?), the duck hen is now in the smaller run with the poofy heads, she seems to have some walking issues, i noticed bumble too, so she will stay with them for awhile- I was looking her over tonite and the dog had gouged her shoulder- can't figure the dog out, she has free ranged with them for 2 years and to find her doing that just is very confusing. Stella, when i was looking over her neck injury, looks like it got peeled, sprayed it with vetrycin, anyway, she hasn't been handled alot, but she tucked her head on my shoulder, almost like a hug, what a sweetheart-

should i giver her antibiotics?

Howdy Y'all: Had my PC in the shop for some time now, and the conclusion was my keyboard needed replacing.
Got to show off ' Ole MacDonald ' at 25 weeks of age. He's my Bantam Rhode Island Red that I've chosen to keep with (7) pullets. They began laying eggs last week, finally. Really small eggs now , but I expect that'll change in due time.

I am building new coops and runs, I am going to try puttng sand down in the runs. My question is what type/kind of sand should I use. I know there is playground sand and commercial builders sand, so which one would I use for chicken runs? Thanks

@cathiesue look at these beauties! I love them

Commercial sand should do just fine for an outdoor run. Under a barn or shed roofing, 3-4" of fresh pine shavings.
