Hey y'all sorry I have not been on in a while. I have developed some serious health issues.. but I need help , Goliath my sweet black copper maran rooster doesn't seem to acting like his normal self. He has just sat on the roosting bar the last two days or at least he was when one of was out there. He did not jump down to eat with the girls and I do not know if he has been drinking. So tonight I moved he and his ladies out of the lean-to part of the chicken barn into the main chicken barn where it is less drafty and has more heat. He is very gentle so I was able to look him over. No runny nose, no bad breath( yes lol I checked). His eyes are bright and I looked him all over and could not find any injurys. He does not have access to any of my other roosters as they are penned up in their "love grotto's with their ladies. I put him under a heat lamp and gave him his own food and own water. He picked at the food some. I am very worried about him I just love him. Idk I can dust him and give him antibiotics or electrolytes? Idk and should I worm although I usually do that in the spring. Could it just be that he was cold? His comb looks healthy and red. Any suggestions ?
Hello to my favorite "flock" of friends
I am still in the serious poultry withdrawal stage (for those who hadn't heard, I wound up in a neighborhood with a restrictive covenant against poultry). :/
But I was just thinking about y'all and wondering if there was a P.O.O.P.S. meeting in the works?
I get to travel around OK a little bit with my work, so I have really enjoyed that.
The other exciting thing in my featherless life is that I have started using Essential Oils for all kinds of cures, preventions, and just amazing smellsAnd with y'all being my back-to-the-basics friends I wondered if any of you had also fallen in love with the Oils, or just were ever interested in them?
Well I hope everyone is staying warm and safe this winter!
I was wondering how Rudy was doing. A remade sweater sounds perfect. Wool is okay if it gets wet, but cotton will freeze a body solid. Do you have any pictures? My little nekid boy is holding his own. The Rudester has a wool sweater I made for him. The coat just was so obnoxious for him to walk and I tried to fix some of the fitting issues, most are related to the fabric not being stretchy at all, anyway instead I decided on a mens wool sweater I took apart and remade. Between his layers of clothes and his bunny friends and his lady love he is managing so far.
Good thing you are so creative. Rudy is in good hands and I'm sure will do fine this winter. You need to come see the two Abraham chicks. I have both showgirls setting on eggs too.My little nekid boy is holding his own. The Rudester has a wool sweater I made for him.
