Thanks, Kass. This spring, I will be paying lots of attention to what's happening in the Hercules Habitat. I have one other NN hen, also the daughter of Hercules, but she does not carry SC. When they are all laying, and I can tell which egg belongs to which hen, I'll start setting the most promising eggs. I haven't seen bees hurt chickens. I have seen my NN chase, catch, and eat bees. The Black Tailed Buff Marans will as well. The big green beetles that look and sound like bees, until you see them up close, are a favorite snack for chickens too. My husband thinks they are hornets, but they are really just flying beetles. Leon is practicing to be "The Man." He strutted his stuff all morning, and I think the hens are either swooning (or maybe they are just worn out). Note how much Justin Beeber resembles Leon. Perhaps other celebrities take their hair style tips from distinguished roosters.
Hi everyone! I have a couple of questions if some chicken experts have a little time:
1. Does my Orpington look "normal"? She is 6 months old. The pictures I see of BO's typically have bright red on their face. She is bright eyed and seems very happy and healthy. I know they get redder as they get older, is that her issue?
2. My chickies are 6 months old. I feed them layer feed, scratch as a treat, they have calcium available, and we give them our leftover veggies. However, they still seem small and no eggs. They also aren't doing the egg squat. They still run from Mr. Rooster too. I have 3 EEs, 3 Buff Brahmas and 1 BO. They are from a hatchery.

Just wanting to get some feedback from my local Okies; soon we'll be investing in a nice incubator, what are y'alls favorite/most successful incubator?
Georgina's first neckbrace... she HATES it! And I feel horrible about it. I really doubt she makes it, because that neck kink is seriously interfering with her nutritional intake, but we're going to try. Poor baby.
He's a Frizzled Silkie, I guess his color would be called Wheaten (?). I had the honor of hatching him Nov 13' and he was the only Frizzle to hatch out of those 11 eggs. I was so lucky to find him a home with Poco where he could have his own girls instead of living with all his brothers. I do still have his brothers.
(Sorry to butt in, Poco, but I'm so happy he's got a good home).
