***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Thanks Rinda, what is the dosage, is it 1 Tbsp per gallon of water?

8 CC/ml per gallon. So closer to 1 1/2 tsp which is roughly 1/2 T? I use a medicine dropper to measure it out, that way I leave the bottle in the house and just take they medicine syringe out to the chicken yard with me.

Kass - These girls are daughters of a black Ameraucanas and Hercule. They are at POL and should be ready for a breeding pen in the spring. One has a stripe of missing scales on both legs. Remind me of the genetic combinations. What are the chances of a Total N if Hercule and this girl get together?

It is a straight forward genetic passing, not one of the odd ones so 1/4. Both parents would be SCsc, and to be totally naked the offspring would need to be SCSC. They should all be either carriers or naked.

Today I have noticed 100's of Bee's, they seem to be around the feeders in all of my chicken coops/pens. Will they hurt the chickens, and will the chickens eat the? Don't know where they are coming from, I am not aware of any neighbors who raise bees.

Thanks, Kass. This spring, I will be paying lots of attention to what's happening in the Hercules Habitat. I have one other NN hen, also the daughter of Hercules, but she does not carry SC. When they are all laying, and I can tell which egg belongs to which hen, I'll start setting the most promising eggs.

I haven't seen bees hurt chickens. I have seen my NN chase, catch, and eat bees. The Black Tailed Buff Marans will as well. The big green beetles that look and sound like bees, until you see them up close, are a favorite snack for chickens too. My husband thinks they are hornets, but they are really just flying beetles.

Leon is practicing to be "The Man." He strutted his stuff all morning, and I think the hens are either swooning (or maybe they are just worn out).
Note how much Justin Beeber resembles Leon. Perhaps other celebrities take their hair style tips from distinguished roosters.

Thanks, just didn't want them hurting the birds...

Sorry, but I am full of questions today:

I have a question for all of you LF Cochin breeders. I have LF Cochin's, currently I have a Blue Rooster over three black hens, and then I have a Black Rooster over three black hens. Their pens are next to each other. I am wondering how to merge the two groups together (I also have POL pullets I will be adding to the groups). My question is can this be done without the two Roosters fighting. Right now I have never seen them fighting between the pens. I do not want them to hurt each other. I would really like to have one large group of LF Cochin's vs two seperate groups. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks

P.S: I am hoping to get some blue and splash pullets/hens this spring..lol
