***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I put that EE egg you gave me under my best hen.
I have 2 broody right now. This is the first time Sasha has gone broody. She's a chocolate Orphington and I'm really missing the double yolkers she's been leavin' me.

Cool! Let's see how good of a momma she is. I'm 99.9% sure that egg will hatch if she sits on it. My ee is my roosters favorite hen and I had 100% hatch rate with her eggs. She makes cute little babies. :)

We have had a good year with morel mushroom hunting.
What we haven't been eating, we have been dehydrating for later. The ones on the paper towel were picked this evening when we went to the back pasture to feed Little Joe his bottle bucket.

Jealous!! Wish I could get out and find some but I just had a baby 2 weeks ago and I can't really take her into the woods. Out of my dozen mixed orpington eggs from the auction I have 11 going into lock down. Unfortunate that not all the eggs he sold were good but glad my are. Now let's just see how many hatch. Stephanie, two of the isbar eggs are going into lockdown. The other 2 never developed.

Good luck with your new duckies Ash. I hope they're happy and healthy little buggers:love

So sorry about what happened to the others... I just read about  it. Very sad  :hugs

Thank you. It was insanely sad. I hate walking by their empty coop. But it's going to be sooo nice to see ducklings again.

Coral, I just wanted to tell you thank you. Saturday I sat out in the sunshine, Phtheven on my lap, petting him until we both fell asleep. He's stopped crowing and he no longer chases the girls. He's such a good boy. When the new coop is up and ready, I'm going to build Bumpers her own pen, and Phtheven will probably be in with her. Thank you for making it possible for him to stay.

I woke up from my nap when poor Phtheven fell off my lap... apparently that's when he woke up too.

Poor guy.

You're welcome. Phtheven would never have become mine the way he IS yours. He didn't crow when he was here, so I think it was the company he was keeping that made it hard for him to commit to the change. Butternut is an attentive chap. He's got three first-year layers following him with dewy eyes and XL fluffy backsides, but I'm thinking that one more will round out his household. Just need to figure out which girl to add.

The guinea, affectionately called "Stupid" now officially has a new home w/ a female guinea.

Woot! Good for him!

RIP Hank. Our faithful rooster was taken by dogs (I'm pretty sure it was dogs) a couple of days ago. He was such a good boy and had lost all his tail feathers a couple of times over the last few years in defense of his girls. I can't decide if I should replace him or wait to see if we have roos it the group we just got as chicks from Atwoods.
