***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hey Kyzmette. You gave me some hatching eggs last fall. Well, out of 4 that made it, 3 were girls. And the third one went broody after a week of eggs and now has 2 chicks of her own! Thank you!

I'm so glad! I needed good news like that today! And look at those adorable babies!

Mad. Mad. Mad. Mad. Mad. Mad. Mad.

I let the flock out to freerange at 7:30 this morning. I went in, did some dishes, and took some fruit rinds out for them around 8:30. First thing I noticed was Phtheven sitting on my porch rail next to the door, and he wasn't budging. When I got down off the porch I spotted the pile of white that was Turkey Lurkey. I found Raven a little farther out. Then my partridge English Orp. Blossom is wounded and missing feathers. There are piles of multi-colored feathers everywhere. And my cuddly black English Orp Sunshine is missing. I'm hoping he's in hiding, but it's possible he was chased into the creek.

Let's see, around 8:00, piles everywhere like it was a huge, crazy chase for fun, and whatever it was ran in, went crazy, then disappeared like it was called home... I asked my neighbor about that little demon dachsund and she denied it and IMMEDIATELY told me about these strange dogs she saw last night. Which is exactly what she did last time.

I'm not stupid; this is the exact same pattern as last time. The game cam is now trained on the corner of my yard closest to their house. They better pray I never catch that dog over here because it will never make it back home.
I really sorry to hear bad news, I haven't read post in forever. I use my time w/ the birds as long as I'm able.I pray you'll find Sunshine alive and happy. I'm not trying to be nasty about other people's dogs, but dachsund(using you're spelling) are notorias for killing smaller animals, because they were bred to go in holes for badgers. I have a hard time tolerating them. My heighbor got one, because she wants to raise chiweenies. It's been over, but my LGD has let it know the poultry is off limits. It still makes me nervous.I love them all so much. I'm really thankful for my hubby for backing me, because of my health. I know I can't do much, but any help u need I'll try. I have lots of chicks and juveniles, if u ever want any. My girls are too hard for me to part with, and it makes me feel selfish. Anyone close, I always, have lots of eggs if anyone wants any. I usually give most of them to people who aren't as fortunate and cook a lot to give back to th chickens. I should try selling some to pay for feed, and I do a few but there's many people out there that don't have the food they need. My head is going

off track, sorry.

Kass that is hilarious and cute at the same time! Poor thing there's no telling what she thinks she is! Lol hope she makes it. Her life is bound to be the makeing of a great story! Can t wait for the next pic.

Went to the auction yesterday. Brought home 8 more guinea pigs makeing a total of 24 now. But I was up to 31! They are working out for me. I had $18.50 in them and kept half(the females) and sold the rest for $150 . They keep me busy, moving them around the yard to mow it down and taking them in a night. I just love them. Also got a pair of Ancona ducks. I think they are neat with their color splashes..

Congrats on your guinea pigs...you had some really pretty ones last year.

Had a total of 10 chicks out of 30 hatch. Not sure what happened other than its the old incubator I borrowed as an extra. But out of the 10, 8 of them were auction orpington eggs. The other 2 were out of my own birds an ee mix and a lavender orpington. Bummed the rest of the eggs didn't hatch.. especially Kass Ward's isbar eggs. :/

Did you candle the eggs that didn't hatch? Sometimes a few take 22 days.

I know exactly what you mean. I originally got into chickens to guve eggs to the needy, then I went and fell in love with the little peck-peck-peckerheads!

I haven't recandled them since lockdown. Hatch day was Saturday so yesterday was day 22. I had one more pip but it died shortly after. Things just didn't go right this time. Think I'll go ahead and return this borrowed incubator I think that is the main problem I had.. dinosaur incubator.
