***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Sure hope everyone has survived the rain storms and has good times planned with family this weekend.

Thank you to our veterans for their service as we pay homage to those who sacrificed for our freedom.

Six inches of rain yesterday and thru the night caused closed roads both sides of town in Meeker and our main creeks were three feet over the 7 foot tin horns. One of the crossover bridges was partially washed out but still passable. A huge burr oak was toppled into and across the water gap. We had three 16 foot cattle panels wired to a 40 foot cable across the gap. That will need to be repaired when the water recedes and before cattle can go to that pasture.

The chicken pens drained better with the trenches we put in this week, but are still soaked. At least the coops are dry. Lost one in the rooster pen and had to bathe and dry one in the Wyandotte pen.
So looking forward to some much needed sunshine!

@NanaKat
I still have a nice black Cochin Bantam rooster....if you would like to have him. He is a character![/quote]
Oh that would be great! I will PM you.

That's a beautiful youngster! I really don't "need" any cockerels. I was hoping the splash showgirl or the blue were cockerels, but I have other roosters/cockerels I can use with the girls. I really need to cut down on my flock more.

I'm looking forward to fall shows and sales. You'll have some gorgeous birds to show. Have you thought about showing and selling in Norman at their event October 3?

I really appreciate your kind words Betsy! I tried pricing them a little higher and wasn't getting much interest, and now I'm running out of space. Here is one of my grow-outs I'm hoping to take to the fall shows for reference. Also, @BetsyOK if you're still in need of a cockerel I've got a dark splash that's close to 2 months old that's looking boy-ish.

Not sure if you're on Facebook but if you are join Tulsa Backyard chickens. I'm sure you'll be able to sell them there. People go crazy over silkies and polish.. bet most haven't ever seen a showgirl.

I have silkie & showgirl chicks coming out of my ears if anyone is looking for some! Colors are blue and splash and some odd ones from my gray pullet; ages are 1 - 4 weeks. $5 each! Located in South Broken Arrow, I am NPIP certified.
I think I need some of your Showgirls. I wouldn't be able to get there til next bWeekend though.

I have a Blue hen and a Blue Partridge hen (from Betsy I adore them) and a Blue Partridge too. This year they have hatched 3 Partridge Showgirl chicks and 2 Blue Showgirl chicks and only 1 Silkie, a Blue. One Blue Showgirl chick is dark and one is light. In the Partridges, 2 look like Blue Partridges but one looks like a regular Partridge. I don't know too much about Blue and PRtridge breeding. Is the blue from the Andalusian Blue gene?

If
there are any left by the time I can get them, I would like a Splash

I'm so tired of the rain!!! One if my black copper maran pullets was squished in the muddy run. She was obviously trampled by the bigger chickens right by the door. So upsetting when I was going out to check for eggs.
