***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Mary Joe, this is Truffle, from those wildcard eggs. Does she look chocolate?

Possibly, she shouldn't have red shoulders if she is pure Chocolate though.
The folks on the Chocolate Orpington thread are very nice. The breeders that are very knowledgeable in genetics share information very kindly. Chocolate is a dilute Black. I also learned that my light colored pullet is a Mauve, not a Dunn. It is a rare combination of dilute Black and Blue! Beyond that it gets more complicated and I need to study.

Had a nice visit with Mary Jo and Joe today. Hubby couldn't believe they left without taking any birds home.
Can't believe all the rain today. We ended up with another 1.75 inches after 3 inches yesterday. All the ponds are overflowing again.
I can see where I still need to add sand in a few of the pens.

I'm going to Coweta on Friday. What's the process for selling. Wish I could be be at noon but can get off that early.
Bring your birds as early as you can. The line starts forming around nine in the morning, but they don't take cages into the barn until noonish. I've seen people bring birds in late, around six in the evening, when the sale starts. Those birds will be sold in the wee hours of the morning. It takes a long time to sell the cages, building materials, and odd items. Eggs and chicks sell next, and then the large fowl sell. Send me a PM. I'm planning to go, and I can go early.

Well I set 15 Narragansett eggs on the 9th, haven't had a chance to check them, but they looked pretty scrambled when I got them. I don't think I'll ever buy eggs again. Went to Memphis for 4 days and lost 10 of 13 jersey giant chicks. Don't ask! My teeth are still gritted. My daughter went to Atwoods and bought 30 straight run mutts which I wish she'd not done. Guess I can raise them and figure it out from there.
Picked up 10 RB poults today, from Country, they look great. 17 cinnamon queens and 5 BBB coming in a few days.
