***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Well the plan is to drive to San Diego Wednesday.

Joye wants us to drive the pickup, she says we might hit weather. But she's just being sneaky, she doesn't want to put 4000 miles on her car. LOL Her car gets 3 times the gas mileage my pickup does.

I have driven that route more than once. The Cuyamaca's are a tough climb. Seen more than one motor home with an engine fire on that section of the road.

great to see our Okie Teach on here! what you raiseing now? Does your brother still have all the stuff he used to? think about you two often. Super nice guys in my book. come back and visit more often. We promise not to try and talk you into coming back to Okla. W ell maybe not!lol

So we received a catalogue from Murray McMurray the other day, and needless to say, we're tempted to order a couple. Is anyone else ordering,if so what and where from?

My brother is getting a bunch of Dark Cornish from McMurray. Whenever the 1st order is probably.

we always count the fresh burnt spots going up the hill from Ocotillo Wells. There will still be a few even this time of year. I've driven from coast to coast so many times (I enjoy driving) I've literally lost count! This will probably be the last time we make the drive west, my SIL is retiring from the Marine Corps this August and the family is moving out here.

My oldest grandson is going to stay here at the house to take care of the birds. I took a shot at an owl a couple weeks ago during broad daylight. He was circling over the pens and was to far away but I wanted to scare him. I don't know if it worked but so far he hasn't shown up again.

There was a bobcat in the yard last night. The German Shepard and he were making a lot of noise but I think discretion was the better part of valor and the cat scooted when I stepped out. I don't believe he can get in the coops. I'm going to set up game cameras tomorrow if I have time.

Tysons Chicken Ranch, Lawton Ok, I have 7 welsummer 2 day old pullets, 2,2 day old cockerels and 7, 2 day old salmon faverolle pullets and 2 salmon faverolle cockerels with 7, 2 day old silver laced wyondotte pullets and 2 cockerels . We are going to split them up in groups of 2 or 3 pullets and one cockerel in each . And plan on my grandson and his two cousins showing them at the Comanche county fair and the Stevens county fair this summer. The order should arrive arround February 24. We have been building frantically to house these birds when they arrive. We are doing this for the fun and the competition of showing also the great eggs. We have a 7 year old , an 11 year old, and a 12 year old and of course I'm the older than dirt leader. We hav also hatched in incubator 24 chicks 30 days to 2 wks old of 6 different breeds that we will be adopting out to our other relatives who have chickens. Glad to have found this okie group and am looking forward to visiting with everyone and telling our chicken stories. Ron Tyson,

Welcome to the Okie thread. There's a lot of wisdom in this group. Ask questions and you'll get informed answers. Our kids are grown, but our grandkids spend a lot of time here, and they learn a lot being around our chickens.
