***OKIES in the BYC III ***

The Fancy digital read good temps when that little sensor was on the side. It read way to hot when I moved it to the center. The incubator was up to temp before I put the eggs in. It dropped for 2 days after putting them in. Got it back up to 99.8 with the sensor on the side. If it started reading more accurate after placing it in the center was that "day" give or take of to much temp enough to cook them and I need to throw this batch out and start over or wait a few more days and candle.

Honestly, I am afraid to try...I had one constantly whining last night and thought about moving it to the broody coop hen.
The thing that concerns me most is that I have three toms free ranging in the same space as the hen - I read that the toms will kill the poults.
Of course, that would free up my life as now all of a sudden I have charges that need near constant attention. I am just concerned that this hen will also decide to quit - the woodpile hen had me fooled and it was rather devastating to realize what was going on.

I have pipping going on

No nothing to take a pic of yet, still just small holes.
Here's a photo I took in the rain yesterday. One of my pullets decided to leave the yard and walk into the front pasture, so I went after her and was brayed at by the donkeys that are in with the cows next door. I'm using this donkey as inspiration for some drawings and paintings. Do you remember Brighty of the Grand Canyon? I read that back in fourth grade. This guy reminds me of Brighty.

You folks sure are busy this time of year huh?
Traded a dozen eggs for fresh trout that's bout all me n my 5 girls got to report lol

I've been "birthing" chickens this afternoon. One hatched w/o help the rest required help (my incubator has issues) Every egg I helped is still alive, but I have 2 I am concerned about and several still "on the half shell" Taking a break to see if they can make it the rest of the way.
