Me too. My mom is a member of the association. Their poultry laws are more rigid than Okc's. In fact, Okc laws do not specifically ban backyard poultry. If you call the offices that are supposed to able to tell you the policies, they don't even know them. The only specific thing we found is a noise ordinance.

9 of my pullets are coming up on 25 weeks. I'm getting anywhere from 1-3 eggs a day from the same 3 layers. I was surprised that the others are lagging so far behind the first layers. About 3 weeks since I've seen any new layers. Mysterious. I'm expecting 2 to start any day, but the other are still kind of teenagey looking. I shamed them a little because I had to buy eggs this week. Lol!

The laws regarding animals in the town where we live are online: "town name"city.org ... chickens are listed among others under definition of animal. Sorry, just didn't want to disclose what town I live in. It has quite a few rules actually, none of which are unreasonable. Noise ordinance is among them. This is FYI if interested.

I keep expecting my first flock to go into molt, but so far it appears to be only our rooster ... losing feathers on chest, back, and legs. Everything I've read said they start their molt around their neck area, but doesn't seem to be the case here. Wishing they would all go into molt so they would all get nice new feathers. Getting 1 egg a day from 3 hens.

New flock doing well, still have rooster ... now named "Ol Yeller" (not old, and has never crowed). Figured he doesn't have much chance of going anywhere where he won't be eaten, so might as well enjoy his time here until he becomes a problem. lol

The noise ordinance crap hacks me off. Dogs typically make more noise than chickens, barking day and night. Roos go to bed at night, and stop carrying on until morning. Not to mention how rarely a noise ordinance is enforced for dog owners. Such a poorly thought out excuse. The fact that we can have hens is basically an exploited loophole for us at this point and may not last.

I don't care myself but the Roos at my neighbors a few blocks over never stop. I've gone out at all times with the dog and the are always up and sounding off. I think part of it is all the artificial lighting in built up areas.

Is there anyone in LeFlore County, kind of close to Wister or Poteau who'd be interested in (all roosters) -

Swedish Flower
Speckled Sussex
Mystery Bantam

These three are 5 weeks old, and are growing like little weeds.
I'll probably post some pictures tomorrow.
I'd like to get them sold and separated, as the Flower and Sussex like to fight one another a lot - I guess setting up their pecking order, too. They look silly trying to puff out neck scruff that doesn't even exist. :'D
They've been outside birds since they hatched, and have free ranged every day with their hatchmom.
Right now though they've been corralled and away from her into a pen set up I have for my cinnamon queen chicks, and the hens (about 5 weeks, too) have been teaching them who's boss in their pecking order lol!

I think my weird egg layer has a defective shell gland. I know there's no way to fix that, but I don't want to cull her unless it becomes necessary. Maybe she'll make a good brooder, since I know I shouldn't breed her.
