it is hatch day here on the farm I put 35 eggs in look down and this morning we have 16 babies out so far

I am hoping to come home from work and have and incubator full

Sorry to miss the last few days but looks like good advice was shared for those with questions.
Missed the Shawnee show too.

Roger's mother passed at 93 with cancer Sunday afternoon. We were able to keep her at home with the help of Hospice. In Loving Care from Shawnee provided wonderful assistance to our family and we so appreciate their service. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

So sorry for your loss, I'm sure she was comforted remaining in the home. "May the God of all comfort, comfort you (and your family) in all your troubles"

16 degrees Sunday morning with high of 26. Might need to do some extra stuff for the girls. I'm not sure if that's cold enough to turn a lamp on in the coop but that's close.
What are you all thoughts?

they are saying windchills in the negatives- i don't heat coops, vaseline the combs, deep litter, for the most part that has done me fine, but not sure on the silkies, and one crossbeak will be coming in, so silkie folks- are they able to handle that??? The coops and runs are plastic wrapped and deep litter

Pulling babies out of the incubator this morning

Had 70% hatch rate not bad for my first round in the new incubator. Had a humidity drop during hatch so 2 babies were "glued" in their eggs shells will be loading the incubator back with old English game bantams eggs this evening

My outdoor thermometer reads 21 degrees. It's also windy and there are flurries. Do my Orps care? They don't seem to. They have not sought shelter in their coop yet. Just pecking around in the run as if nothing is happening.

It sounds like they're okay, just watch for frostbite on their combs! Though if you get too worried or it gets colder, I'd corral them back into their roost area to be on the safe side!

My reds are tucked in tight under the coop and won't even come out for warm oatmeal

All mine want out! It's 35 degrees with mist and mine are chomping at the bits to get out of their coop.
