***OKIES in the BYC III ***

We have lost touch with a lot of the "old timers"....a shame.
Spring should bring more activity as folks check in to visit about their projects.
I'm hatching test eggs, moving chicks around and setting up breed pens.

Yes we have, and it is a shame. My projects all fell through over the last 2 years due to health reasons, and varments killing them. I am starting them over now (again).

I'm sorry you had so many major setbacks, especially due to health problems. I hope you've rested and healed. I have much respect for you that you're getting back in there and trying again. I wish you better luck this time around.

Thanks for answering my post. I was beginning to thing something was wrong with my connection here.
I don't know. I get busy with other things as the weather warms up. That's what happened with me last summer. I got to busy to get on here, but then a few months ago, I couldn't get logged back in. Then I got another computer and BYC wouldn't send me my password, so I had to start over and sign back up in order to log in.
I just figured seeing as it's so cold out, people would be sitting around inside here on the chicken site.
I didn't know this thread was here until 5 minutes ago!

I’m new to BYC (about a week) and just found the Okie thread! We haven’t had chickens for a very long time, but are planning a few chickens and especially ducks for eggs this year. We are excited and I have an incubator arriving on Wed. We love being in a agricultural area in central OK and are carefully planning our ducks, chickens, and garden. I’m so glad I have found the Okie thread to learn from each of you and share the happenings on our farm! :)

:welcome to the Okie side of the world. Sounds like you're ready to enjoy country life. :love

I really shot myself in the foot this winter by not lighting my coop. That's me... Stubborn. I've been buying eggs since Oct., only to find out that my husband has everything we need to set up solar-powered lighting that could be battery banked for the night. Doh! That's it! No more break-time for my girls! I tried to be patient, since they had a rough last half of the year, but we can't financially justify having chickens that don't give back anymore. I learned my lesson.
